Do you believe in ghosts?

My son swears there was a man in his room one night- looking at one of his electrical panels (my son collects them, don't ask). He was scared and shut his eyes, when he opened them the man was gone. He described a silhouette to me "Shadowy" is the word her used.

My daughter said that once when she and her brother were here alone she was doing laundry, she walked by our room and saw a child sitting on our bed as if watching tv- she said it was just a glimpse and then she put her basket in her room and went into ours to speak to her brother (who she assumed was in our room watching tv) and there was nobody there. She yelled to Jack and he was in the basement.

Yes. Mostly just "feelings". My husband thinks I just am more receptive to it, so when something "odd" happens, I more easily attribute it to a ghost.

After my Dad died, my youngest was probably around 2 or so, and was fascinated by a spot above the ceiling fan one morning. Kind of talking to it etc....Thought it was just a kid thing until I asked him what he was doing. He looked at me like I was nuts and said Pop Pop is there. And I said where? And he got very irritated that I couldn't see him. He was like right THERE!!! I had heard that kids and animals can see things that adults can't. So whatever it was, or wasn't, he really thought that my Dad was there in that spot.

So while I am not crazy about it, I do believe.

yes, I do believe. Once, my parents and I went to a historic downtown restaurant that used to be the home of a wealthy industrialist in the 1920's. It was called The Whitney, and they said it was haunted by the man (the industrialist). I didn't really believe in ghost at the time.

Well, I had to use the restroom, which was on the second floor. Also at that time there was a private party being held on the second floor. I went upstairs to the restroom, and when I was finished I decided to be nosey and look around a little in some of the upstairs rooms. I went to a room towards the back and peeked in and saw a man dressed in fancy evening clothes. Thinking it was someone from the private party I backed away and then took a quick look again just to see what the room looked like. Well, the man had disappeared. I mean, completely gone--and there was only the one exit from that room, and I only glanced away a couple of seconds. So, believe what you want, but I believe I saw the ghost of the industrialist.

100% believer here. I've had plenty of experiences in all of my 30+ years. I have also been along on several investigations in and around the Philadelphia area.

However, while I believe in "ghosts," I'm still not sure WHAT they are, or WHY they are present. I've taken a recent interest in all of the technology and research looking into "residual" hauntings, which are similar to the imprint theory a PP mentioned.

This Universe is far too vast for us to completely understand. The idea of alternate dimensions will never be beyond the realm of possibility.

I think that this is a great point. How can we assume that we understand everything? I sometimes wonder if we've even scratched the surface.

I have no idea.

Some days I think there are absolutely ghosts, but then other times, I don't know what to think.

I think I lean towards the idea that there is something with us (there have been accounts of freaky, weird experiences) but what it is, I'm not sure.

Honestly, I don't think we're supposed to know.

yes

I was working at this very small factory, We made frig madnets. I was the 2nd shift manager with one employee under me. We always locked the doors because we were the only ones who should be there.

Well one night I am working away and I felt someone looking at me so I looked up and standing about 4 feet away was a little girl stringy blonde hair wearing a pink dress that was a little to big for her and she was holding a teddybear with a blue ribbon around his neck.
I always smile at children so I automaticly smiled at her and then noticed a little boy, he had on an old baseball cap and baseball shirt, well he ran to a little room with a door that has a window and then he put his nose on the window to make a funny face, so I giggled. Then I realized me and other employee were the only ones supposed to be there. I thought the owners must have brought their grandchildren to the factory with them while they did something in the office up front so I went up front to tell them if they do that they should let us know they are there so we wouldn't be frightened.
Nobody was there, I even looked in the parking lot, nobody!

They next day I just asked if anything wierd ever when on here and the day time employees said oh you must have seen the ghosts. Then they start telling me about the ghostS:
a short heavy set man
a tall lanky guy
a woman who was only seen in the bathroom by men, never women
the little boy
the little girl

I started looking for a new job the very next day!

Yes, but not like in the movies. The incidents I have had all are positive, more like angels but I really don't know what it was.

I was hoping the scratching and noises in my attic were ghosts, but it looks like it's squirrels! :)

I grew up in the suburbs of Philly, and I think because of the all of the historical areas, it makes it ripe for ghosts! When I was in hs there was even a book that I read about all the ghost stories in the Philly/New Jersey area. I wish I still had the book.
My Grandmother lived in a home built during the Revolutionary War,so as a kid it was spooky! After she died, the new owners told my Uncle that at night, they could hear someone crying on the 3rd floor. And they also heard what sounded like a man doing bird calls/whistles. My Grandpop used to do bird whistles.

A former Die hard Skeptic....Now I'm a reluctant believer.

Our current house is off the charts in terms of activity. NOw we just live with it like it's a normal part of our life. Our DD(6) even has named a couple of the entities, Clockhead and Dark Man. Dark Man likes to watch us...and clockhead is more ornery (DD's words, not mine). There also seems to be a kid that likes to play with our dog.

But yeah, we think there is something to it all.

I believe in an unexplained phenomenon that is usually classified as a haunting. I believe that there are things that have not yet been explained by science. I have seen evidence that I simply can not explain with normal methods. I have witnessed things that I can not explain and can not replicate.

But I have also seen a lot that can be easily explained. I have had to tell people that what they experienced is most likely not their great aunt Sue visiting them. I have been flat out lied to about what is happening in someone's home. More often then not, the haunting is nothing. I believe a true haunting is very rare, which only makes it harder to collect information and evidence.

I believe in Ghosts. Haven't you been in the Haunted Mansion? They hitch a ride with you at the end of the ride. Aren't those real ghosts? :scared1:

I don't. I believe in the afterlife but think once you die the soul goes where it goes instantaneously. It doesn't hang out on Earth knocking over vases. I also don't think any relatives that have died can "look in on us". I think the afterlife is completely separated from this world.

Of course I could be dead wrong, we all find out eventually.

Nope. When you're dead, you're dead.

My great uncles had lots of ghost stories about the old apartment building where they lived, but they were loons.

I do not.

Count me in as a non-believer.

I don't believe in anything definitively, but I am open to the possibility. I guess it would take a personal experience to convince me.
