Do you believe in aliens?

I like to think there's some kind of far more advanced life form out there. It kinda comforts me in a way.

yeahh. it's kinda like if we fail, at least something else will live on. Although that sounds kind of scary. Okay, let's just drop that thought altogether. xD
Hahaha.

But yes, I do believe that there could be something else living out there; whether more complex or less complex than us. But there's millions of other galaxies that we haven't even heard about yet, and who knows? There could even be another Earth somewhere. So yeah, I think that there could be something else like us.

What if they're mean and want to rule all of the universe?! :scared1:
Then we are in some deep doody my friend. XD

I believe that there is life beyond what we know. It is incredibly ignorant to believe that we are the only things out here. NASA was even created for the purpose of finding life on other planets.

I think the whole film on "first time in space" is fake. I believe they just filmed it in the studio. I believe the first time they tried was with those 7 people, that ended up in a horrible accident.

It would be so cool to meet a different life form/type of human from another planet.

Actually,Russia was the first in space. America had "first man on moon"

No.

None of the other planets in the universe have the ability to support any life forms.

I was reading an article in the Smithsonian magazine and that stated most astronomers believe we'll never come close to discovering every solar system, planet, ect. that's out there. To say that no other planets in the entire universe can support life is quite ignorant when we haven't even discovered 99.9% of them.

Mythbusters had an awesome show proving a ton of things true with the moon landing.

It was really interesting, the effect the reflective surface of the moon and the terrain were big plays in all the myths.

i surely do.
people say that other planets cant support lifeforms.
well, thats not entirely true because the other living things system may be different and may not need the same things living things on earth need.

Recently, NASA also discovered a planet in another galaxy that is similar to Earth. It was land, water and I think plants or something?

yeh they did.
im pretty sure it has a weirdass name with like mixed up letters and numbers...
haha. i think i starts with a Q?

That is not a name! It is a serial number! XD

(I am sorry for the weirdish way I am typing. My keyboard is messed up and I can not use an apostrophe.)

according to google its called 2003UB313.
2 is close to q...
after all, they ryhme xD
but either way, its a weirdass name haha

I think it would be pretty stupid of us to think that we lived on the ONLY planet that was able to support life. I mean, I learned today that years ago people also thought that humans were the only ones that were actually able to think and that obviously has been proven wrong, hasn't it?

There are SO MANY other galaxies and planets out there that we have not had the chance to discover yet, so there is no way that we can prove that we're the only 'intelligent' living things.

And you know? PosessedEeyore (sorry, can't think of your name right now. :headache:) is right! How can we say that EVERY LIFE FORM EVERYWHERE needs oxygen to breath and water to drink? Again, that would be pretty narrow-minded of us, especially considering there are creatures on our OWN planet that have adapted so that they can live in the DEEPEST depths of the ocean, where there is like, no sunlight at all and very limited oxygen and other things that can live WAY up in the mountains, where the the air is so thin that we can't even stay up there that long without dragging oxygen tanks with us.

Their bodies and way of life could be SO FAR BEYOND anything anyone could even think of right now. So...yeah. THINK OUTSIDE THE BOX GUYS! OUR REALITY, MORE THAN LIKELY, IS NOT THE ONLY ONE OUT THERE.

It's just a small world, after all. ;)

omg too wierd.

i was JUST watching a show about aliens & was gonna post a thread about it.
then i was thinking like "what IF i get on and somebody already posted a thread about it then i could be like OMG I WAS JUST gonna post this thread"
yeah i have no idea why that ran through my head? its a true story though :]
yesyes. ask tom , its no lie .
ahhahaha

anyway:

i dont see how people can believe that their ISNT life out there in the universe.
i mean theres billions of solar systems and trillions of planets out there . do you REALLY think earth is the ONE out of ALL of those planets?

Yes, I do. However, I think what's out there may be an altered version of what we define as "life."

This is a very interesting point

a far more advanced society is probably at the point of living in peace with each other.

war is a human trait.

Just curious, but why do you say that war is a human trait? Does territorial altercations between animals not count as war?

Yes i do believe there are other "life" forms out there, just maybe not as what we define as life like the OP said above

Of course.

There's NO possible way we're the only place with people in this whole universe. I don't believe in green aliens who have antenna's etc.

We were talking about this in science once.
NASA once sent out a message that is still traveling through the universe, and will never stop. If someone ever gets that message, it will take FOREVER to get here. Even if they did get here, they might be more advanced than us. So, what good are we to them?

To be considered "alive", the organism doesnt need to drink water and breath oxygen

Six characteristics of life are
1. Needs to be consisted of cells
2. Cells need to be organized
3. Organism needs to use energy
4. Homeostasis
5. Growth
6. Reproduction

little science lesson for the day :p...I wonder if these characteristics of life will change when other "life" forms are found hmmm :surfweb:
