OK..Villains Unleashed wasn't as great an experience as I hoped for my son, I'm still counting on MNSSHP. We're going to party on 9/26 as part of his birthday celebration. He loves Villains. In the past we were able to get pictures with Villains from Mix and Mingle. Now it looks like the only way to see them up close is at the Castle Soiree.

My thought is that we will still get to see a bunch of villains (though not those at soiree except in Mix and Mingle Show), enjoy parade and fireworks without having to pay $99 each for Soiree.

I figure we will see Mix n Minge show, 1st parade and 1st fireworks then check out some character M&G and the new Villains Dance party at Diamond Horseshoe. Trick and Treating and rides are our bottom priority.

We do early parade and fireworks just in case DS gets to tired to make it to end of party. If we did Soiree we would do first one and it sound like we will be rushed and then there will not be much time do to other things.

I'm just debating over if the Villain interaction at Soiree is worth it for DS. Will he be able to get a picture with every Villain there? I am assuming no autographs as they are giving out cards.

I really think we should enjoy the MNSSHP and find characters to meet in the park and leave the Soiree alone. He's met all the Soiree characters at past parties and though Cruella is his favorite, there are other Villains roaming the park he would like to meet. I am assuming the party is the only place to meet the characters that are there.

My understanding is that the only place villains are appearing in the park is at the dance party, which is not a typical meet & greet. Posed photos are typically not done there.

I've been watching, but have seen no reports of villains appearing for a traditional meet & greet elsewhere.

But the dance party is accessible to all party goers correct? That's not the same as the villains soiree right?

That's correct. And most will have a great time there. The ones who could be disappointed are those hoping for a posed photo with the character. That apparently isn't available anywhere I the park without the soiree any more.

There are other villains available in the park, but those at the Soiree only meet and greet there. Maleficient and the Evil Queen are exclusive, Cruella and the others are part of Club Villain, the new dance party in Frontierland, but aren't available for photos or autographs at the dance party.

Ahhh, ok.

I guess it depends on what your DS wants. Does he want posed photos with them, or is meeting and seeing them good enough?

Granted, I wasn't looking for them last night, but the only villain I saw out for meet and greets, were Jafar and the Evil Witch. There were probably others but they weren't obvious to me. I did see regular characters in costume....Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Daisy, Goofy, the 7 Dwarves, and a few princesses. But that was it.
The party was fun, I'm glad I didn't spend an addtl $100 to meet the villains......just not worth it to me. Sadly though......this may have been my last party. It seemed that less candy spots were around, less candy given out (one young man actually counted out two pieces!), no 'bad guys' around other than in the parade and the merchandise was barely okay. But....if you waited until 11ish, you could get handfuls of candy! Now, why not just evenly distribute all night long vs a very few pieces for the first 3 hrs and then huge handfuls later as it got close to closing?!
Nope, while I have loved going to the parties (especially MNSSHP) I doubt I'll be doing them again. Just not worth it anymore.

According to the map Kenny the Pirate posted on his site the other day you can meet other characters & Villains like Jafar at M&G spots.

If the Villains Party at Frontierland is like hades Hangout it will be fine. In fact hades hangout was the best thing we thought at Villains unleashed because at least my son got to dance with a bunch of Villains. It was fun. Yes, they didn't pose in the traditional sense of M&G..you had to dance with them for interaction, Yet while dancing with my son the Villain would do a quick pose for me to get a picture and there were chances for candid shots.

Even though the "big" Villains will be at Soiree...I think we will be able to experience and enjoy more of the party if we don't go. The parade and fireworks are fantastic and I'm sure we'll get good views without the priority seating. And we can always catch a mix and mingle show.

I'm beginning to find with these event if your focus is only on meeting characters there's a lot of other fun and enjoyable things you will miss out on.
This will be our 4th MNSSHP and I am hoping there will be others in the future...so maybe it's best to let them figure out the good, bad and ugly with this new soiree event before I potentially waste over $300 on it.

By the way, does anyone know if Lady Tremaine had a good singing voice??
