I type correctly...my job involves tons of coding (programming), so if I didn't, it would take me so long to get anything done it would be ridiculous!! :)

Same here. I can type about 75-80 wpm with no errors. And even if I do make an error, I can backspace it and fix it without looking and without missing a beat! I can also 10-key just as fast.

Anyone else remember, "The quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog?"

Each 9th grade class had to take "Typing" on manual typewriters, though we did have two electrics in the back of the room that we could take turns with. Any erasures counted very much against our assignment grades. Typing was one of the most useful classes I have ever taken, both in learning how to type and in how to format letters, memos, etc. And, like other posters, I type much better and faster when I am not looking at the keys...thinking about it only slows me down.

Took typing in highschool. Hated it, but I type the right way and thanks to the dis, I type a lot faster than I ever dreamed I would. :thumbsup2  :cool1:

I am another who who does not type "correctly" but does not hunt and peck either. I get by for what I do.

I type the right way. :) Even after all these years of not working in an office, I'm pretty fast. :teeth:

I type the right way. I learned back in the dark ages on a "real typewriter". We didn't have computers back then. (and I used to walk five miles to school with no shoes) :thumbsup2

I type the correct way. :thumbsup2 I better !! I took 5 years of computer typing classes in jr high and high school.

I type the correct way. Don't you start with your hands on ASDF and JKL; ? Do they teach typing/keyboarding in highschool these days?

That is how we were taught in 9th grade. I would assume it is the same way even after 20 something years. My DD11 took a class last year, they called it technology, and they started on the basics of typing. Not sure they offer "typing" at the high school level anymore. I think they assume you should know how to type by then.

Typing was my worst subject in school. I had broken my arm when I was in the 6th grade and couldn't keep my wrist bent a certain way. No matter how much I tried I couldn't keep my wrist the way the typing teacher wanted me to hold it. Needless to say I didn't get in trouble at home for my grade. But I can type they "right" way.

In my world typing with 2 or 3 fingers is the correct way. :rotfl:

I hunt and peck....but not very slowly.

I wanted to take typing in high school, but I wasn't allowed.

I type the correct way. Back in high school I learned on a manual typewriter with fingernail polish on all of the keys so you wouldn't be tempted to look at your fingers.

I took a typing class in high school and I am glad I did. If I did not type the correct way I would have had a horrible college experience. I am a computer programmer so typing correctly is almost mandatory. My dad is also a programmer and he hunts and pecks. It takes him almost twice as long to do the same work as me.
