Do we stick with what we love?

Planning our upcoming trip for next winter. We LOVE AKL-Kidani Village. We have stayed there often and it's our favorite place so far! We LOVE that they don't share buses with any other resort. We love the theme with the animals and the 2 full baths is nice too.

We've thought about changing this year and possibly doing BWV or VWL.

The upside to the wilderness lodge would be more restaurants and the boat ride to MK (which we go to a lot) and the access to Fort Wilderness via walking trails. However, I wonder if the shared buses may be a sticking point with us since we are so used to getting on and going right to the park. Do you think that will annoy us?

We like that BWV allow you to WALK to Epcot and HS (even though its our least favorite park). But I worry that the buses to MK and AK will again be something we wont like. I also worry with BWV that the food options aren't as plentiful when it comes to counter service?

Does anyone find they mind the difference of sharing vs non sharing? Does the options other then busing make up for sharing with some?

Try each resort at least once. You may find a new favorite, that's what happened to us. :cloud9:

I have been going through the very same dilemma. We have stayed at AKL kidani and VWL and love them both. We are trying the BCV for our next trip and it is such a hard move to leave what you know and love. I have found that each one has some positives and some negatives, but I think I love each one simply because I love the memories.

Good luck with your search. We have never had a complaint with busing at VWL and enjoy the boat!

I say 'live a little and venture out!' ;)

In fact our next trip is the first trip we've been on since 2009 that we're not having a BLT stop. We're going with Jambo and Villa Wilderness Lodge, we've never stayed at either so it's completely new territory!

You may fall in love with a new location if you try something new :)

I would definitely try something new. I think that's part of the fun.

Since you said you go to MK a lot, I'd give the edge to VWL.

But I love the BWV's too!!!

You really can't go wrong with either choice.

I think a roll of the dice is in order. 1-2 = bwv, 2-4 = AK, 5-6 VWL either way its a win win situation. Good luck!

Not sure this would be your thing but we love to split our stay. Personally, I wouldn't do it if staying under a week, but we typically do 4 nights at BLT and 4 nights at an EPCOT resort. Best of both worlds.

I think bus service at BWV might annoy you. MK shares with Swan then Dolphin but BW is first. AK I think anyone would hate as it often shares with Swan, Dolphin, YC, BC and a water park. On the way back BW is usually last so we would get off at Swan and walk back.

Last summer we a split Kidani & BWV. I liked the layout of Kidani much better.

We want to try them all. The different themes make it feel like a new vacation since we enjoy the resort as much and sometimes more than the parks :)

We always miss all the other ones we are not staying in but we know we will be back. It's great to have choices.

Walking to two parks is a huge perk. Plus there see so many restaurant choices in the Epcot area

Give it a try, worst that will happen is you realize that Kidani is where you want to be going forward.

We have tried them all many times and yes we too have fallen in love with Kidani. For one thing at this point I am not sure I can give up that extra bathroom and BLT just does not appeal to us on many levels.

The buses however are something that never bothers us at any location.

We have done a bonus night at the beginning of our past several trips to see if we love anything as much as my home base, BLT... I have determined that my heart does in fact belong to be BLT, but we enjoyed seeing what the other dvc resorts have to offer. So I would suggest doing a one night test at a resort you want to try and then if you like it you know you won't mind spending a whole week there in the future.

It's hard to change once you like a place. We love SSR. We love tree houses. We liked AKL. Not a fan of OKW tried x2. This next visit we are going for BCV and B LT.. I am scared to go outside our box. But that the joy of DVC. You can try it once. And always go back home....

Dance with who brought you. Love is love;, no need to keep looking

I think it's a good idea to try out other resorts, though admittedly you'll still have your favorites. Our home resorts are SSR, AKL, and BLT. We've stayed at all of them, but also OKW and BWV.

BLT is our favorite. If we had enough points, we'd be tempted to stay there every time. Kidani is our second favorite, which is funny because it is the exact opposite of BLT in many ways!!

We really enjoyed BWV, but didn't love the lock off. (with a family of 6, we need a 2br). Belle Vue Lounge almost made up for it, though! OKW was a favorite of our teen daughters, though none of us loved the lack of counter service food options here. SSR was enjoyable, and I think will be more so once Disney Springs is complete. We loved our stays here, but the horse theming is really not my thing.

We still want to try BC and VWL sometime...and are hoping to get VGF next year to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary, since we honeymooned at the GF!

Getting to explore a new resort is half the fun. I say give it a shot!

This is a perfect example of why everyone needs to try out the resorts and not rely solely on what you read.

We own BLT also but it has become our least favorite. BWV, VGF, and VWL are our current favorites and we also own AKV and BCV.

Different strokes for different folks. :thumbsup2

I also think a split stay is a good idea if it can work for you - I wouldn't want to do it with young children for instance. Maybe somewhere else plus Kidani?

I bought exactly where I like to stay (see signature) and a common pattern is a few days in a standard BWV studio to save points, off to Vero Beach, then a longer stay in a one-bedroom at OKW to finish the vacation (usually between 12 and 15 days in total).

A few weeks ago we did the above, but substituted BCV for BWV and I was really surprised that I didn't care for it :confused3 The fact that I was still ending my vacation at OKW pleased me :)

If you love MK, then the transportation to MK from BWV will drive you crazy. Too many stops to get back to your resort. VWL would be my choice. I love the boat ride to MK.
