Do we REALLY need signs like this?

In a women's washroom at the university I attend (where people are presumably well-educated or are in the process of doing so): "Please flush toilet after using. Thanks!".

Isn't it sad when we have to tell people to flush the potty? I remember learning this when I was in preschool...
I was in our local school a few yrs ago waiting to use the ladies room. One of the men teachers walks out of the ladies room (the mens room was occupied) I go in there and sure enough he had peed all over the seat. So I guess being well educated does not always = common sense and/or manners.

No offense to teachers on the dis. Just bad manners for the one at our school that did that.

I also have to sometimes check to see if it flushed, because in work we have the automatic toilets. We also have the automatic faucets. And automatic soap dispensers. And automatic paper towel dispensers. Since I'm at work more hours (awake) than anywhere else it's easy to get used to it! :rotfl:

This reminds me of the sign I saw at the supermarket on the glass over the salad bar....."Please Use Utensils"!!!

Are there really people who just stick their hands in the lettuce and grab a handful of croutons?:rotfl:

Just a little while ago I ripped open one of those pre-moistened towelettes that are specifically for cleaning your glasses.. Printed on the package was:

Do not use to clean contact lenses or your eyes..

Dumb signs crack me up..:rotfl::rotfl:

LOL! I was out with Shugardrawers last night and in the bathroom I pointed out the sign that posted that says "Employees must wash hands". I told her that anytime I see signs like that I want to cross out the word "employees" and write "EVERYONE"!

Same here.

And "do not try to flush paper towels down the toilet" should be up there too. Do you flush paper towels down your commode at home? Seriously doubt it unless you're in to dating the plumber, he's over at your house that much..... :rotfl2:

I'll admit having to wait after using the public restroom...

Some are automatic, some semi-automatic, and some are manual. Now a days you never know. And God forbid the automatic doesn't work you have to shake your hand over the sensor until it recognizes you:confused3. I think we still need the signs!

That's what I was thinking. Maybe people assume they are automatic & just walk out.

At the hospital, in the staff restroom, there is a sign reminding people to flush, and a diagram on how to properly wash hands. This is in an OR recovery room, you would think that surgeons, OR nurses, anesthesiologists, and the other people that use the staff bathroom in the recovery room would be quite adept at flushing toilets and washing hands.

What I find mildly amusing is that while there is a sign in the bathroom on how to properly wash hands, there is no such reminders by the scrub sinks reminding people of the proper scrub technique, or how long to scrub, or anything like that. Granted, every surgeon and scrub nurse knows, but then you would also think that they know how to wash their hands after using the restroom?

We were having a water shortage in the town of our university so people got on a water saving kick. Select toilet stalls had signs such as: "If it's yellow, let it mellow; if it's brown, flush it down."

I avoided those stalls.

Thats just ewwwwww

I can top that: recently, I saw a sign in a public restroom at a fast food place, that told people to throw their used toilet paper into the toilet and not on the floor or the trash can. IMO, if you're old enough to read a sign that says that, you're old enough to know where used TP goes. Totally gross that they had to have a sign like that; I feel bad for the person whose job it is to clean that bathroom :scared1:

There are some cultures where tossing it on the floor is the norm. Plumbing is not the best, so the paper won't go thru the pipes. I know an office manager who had to have an inservice with the staff to tell them to flush the paper. And thats when it came up about it being the norm to toss it on the floor or in the can.

my mom cleans at a university and its just horible what people do. I think we need a sign at work- Parents, please put down the seat!!
we had a kid almost fall in today!

I hate those toilets that only have a sensor and don't give the option to push a button. They only seem to flush when I open the door after having waved my hand over the sensor numerous times.

I also think some people need a sign to remind them to wash their hands after using the toilet. Yuck.

Ooooh, can I add one???? I've seen signs that say "yield to pedestrians in crosswalk."

The key word here is "IN." Note that a person "IN" a crosswalk is "IN" the road. The sign, then, is reminding us not to hit people.

Is a sign for that necessary? To me, it's instinct.

Very necessary! There are sad stories of people killed in crosswalks every year, especially those in the middle of a block. The signs are there to remind drivers to look carefully.

When I was still flying, we would periodically get e-mails reminding us use regular ice and not dry ice on burns. I figured if we had to be reminded that meant someone had done that. OUCH!!

There is a sign in the bathroom where I work that says "please don't put blood on the wall"

I work in a typical office...not a place where massive accidents are happening or people are bleeding profusely often. It baffles me... and it's gross.

If you sprinkle
when you tinkle
please be neat
and wipe the seat!

I used to post this in the ladies room at work, I was so sick of the wet yellow toilet seats :scared1:

 Ohhhh, gosh, when I read this, all I could think of was my SIL telling me about her teenaged DD's "friend" who came over to visit, used the bathroom and found that it was that time of the month, and proceeded to "decorate" the bathroom walls with the blood. :crazy2: :crazy2: :crazy2:

Someone hung signs up here at work too. First she made one that said to Flash instead of Flush:rotfl:
Then the second ones at the top it said don't be nasty..it annoyed me.
I didn't think there was a problem:confused3
BUT this from the lady who will flush with her foot three times before going in the stall anyway. Yeah becasue all the water coming on on the seat is good:confused3
