Do we really know what is going on?

I truly believe that the reporters are horrified. Rightly so. They are living it. They aren't showering, living or eating well. It is horrifying what's happening, terrible and alot of it shouldn't be happening.

The big top guys at CNN, CNBC and FOX, etc. are not living it.

They're looking at how many are watching them.

That's how ALL big business works.

And they will send their reporters to where the most money is to be had.

I've seen too much to believe anything else.

Oh, and to clarify, in no way to I think any of this is an exaggeration.

But whatever sells is what will be emphasized.

And we need to look inside ourselves to see what sells to us before it will ever change.

I actually remember feeling just as helpless on 9/11 as people jumped to their deaths and others were not reachable before the towers collapsed.

The area of devastation down here is 90,000 Sq Miles, bigger than the state of Idaho. And law and order was abandoned and now the price is being paid in a few areas. Gangs are making this warlike! I hope our military is given the extra "danger" pays if in these areas.

I left for a couple hours and am beginning to see some areas getting relief on TV. Hopefully the chaos can be overcome in the other areas.

Is there good news ? Of course there is ! There are probably more stories of heroism, bravery, and "miracles" than on any day in our nation since 9/11. But those aren't the stories that need to be told right now. They will absolutely be told. But right now, people are dying and in desperate need of assistance. I'm sorry, but I absolutely believe the media should be telling that story, particularly if it helps to get people moving.

I agree - whatever it takes to get aid there works for me.

I literally know hundreds of people in New Orleans - many of whom are not people of means. I don't know if they are dead, dying or safe.

Those of us not in N.O. are trying to keep together via the email (and phones when working). More than one person has said - I guess my apartment, home,etc is not in too bad a shape as they don't show that area on TV. The no news is good news philosophy.
