Do We Own Our Threads?

Tigger&Belle said:
When I do vent, it's more with posters I already "know" (ie in the "clique" type threads). They will give sympathy or will laugh at me, or some of both ;) , but they won't seriously rake me over the coals when they know I'm not up to it.

I've discovered that sort of thread myself. I know some people dislike those threads, but they can be lots of fun.

They are a blast! :yay: :teeth: :woohoo:

That would be annoying. Threads, like conversations in real life go in different directions. Heck people (myself included) are easily distracted. Life goes off topic, either redirect it, or enjoy the ride! ;) Sometimes off topic takes us to much better places then the intended destinations.

EXACTLY! And the killer was it was on a dieting board so someone might ask a question about say resistance training and someone else would say oh I had a really long plateau but then I started resistance training and after a while it started coming off again. Someone else would ask, how long was your plateua or how much weight did you lose since you started and BOOM moderator queeny would step in and close it down because it had strayed from her very narrow definition of on topic.

But the question is, how does one start a clique thread? Doesn't seem like you could hop right in in the middle because it seems like interrupting. Or walking up to a group on the playground that already has their own game with their own rules. :rotfl:

i would like to own this thread? can i buy it with monopoly money? i can trade park place if you like.

Sometimes it's easy, like when a tv show is starting and you start or join a thread about it. But sometimes it happens without planning, like when Stitchfans was asking about cliques and that anti-clique clique started. Or one time luvmydogs tried to send me a PM, but my inbox was filled so she started a thread telling me to clean out my inbox, which started a thread that's over 4000 posts long (which you are welcome to join!), the T&B thread. There are threads that people start who live in certain geographic areas, etc.

Feel free to jump in Julie!! I know I love to get to know new people and since I jumped into the the T&B Pms thread (private message not the other PMs) I have a blast. Another great group that love to welcome other is the riddle thread, those people are a hoot and we give hints ;)

I only have $3 in my paypal account, is that enough?

Actually, I could use a thread about PMS right about now. I am convinced my DD who is only 9 has hormonal swings at the same time I have them.

WOW--how OT can you get???? :rotfl:

My sympathies! I wanted three DDs and after having one DD and having the ultrasound and finding out the second child was a boy I about cried and wondered what I would do with a boy. I ended up having 1 DD and 3 DSs. :lmao: Maybe it's for the best--my DD is home from college and it's tough having two females in the house...

Oh, T&B I think you should be thankful for those boys! I am for mine. Most days I love DD dearly but some days that first D stands for something else. Actually some days it should be a B. (Today would be one of those days, can you tell?) When I first had DS2 I swore I would have another baby if someone could guarantee I would have a girl because I didn't want three boys. By the time DD was 8 I decided that the only way I would have another was if someone could guarantee it would NOT be a girl. :lmao:

Oh the poor thing. I really do love her, it's just that today she seems to think we should run the house the way she sees fit.

My DDS are 22 (my first marriage, I was 10 :rolleyes1 ), 19 (DH's first marriage) and almost 14 DD together. I feel bad for my dh at times :guilty:

Who wants to start a "OFFICIAL UN-COOL THREAD"??? I'm the uncoolest person i know... :rotfl2:

Oh, really, I'm just joking! No one ignores me on the clique threads, I just can't seem to keep up. And then when the inside jokes get going, I'm just lost.
