Do we need lanyard if not trading pins?

Hi everyone,
This is my family's first trip to WDW and we are very excited. Quick question for all of you, because I know this is the best group of people to ask... we are not going to dive into pin trading this time. I've read alot of sites that talk about getting a lanyard. Do we need them if we are not pin trading? What do you think? I've seen FastPass holders and lanyards on a site selling autograph books (which I'm defintely buying before we leave) but I don't want to throw down 25 dollars for lanyards if we don't really need them.

No - even though we are pin traders we still don't wear lanyards My dd's and I just find them uncomfortable. I do wear a small fanny pack and I keep all the park passes and our FP's in the outside small pocket of that.

My dd's usually use a pin bag in the pocket - with a carabener clip to the belt loop to prevent loss. For autogrpahs they wear a light colored hat and have the characters sign it. I can usually find the hats on sale prior to the trip at the Disney store and I keep a sharpie in my fanny pack. This way everything is always quickly accessable - and no lanyards necessary.

We have never used lanyards. I keep everyone's tickets and fast passes in a small wallet like holder in my fanny pack.

Why are you buying autograph books before you go? Is it because they are cheaper? We just always buy them when we get there. They sell them everywhere.

I would think that the lanyards get hot and heave around the kid's necks.

I got each of them a fanny pack for $4.95 or $5.95. My husband's was $11.95 I think. I got myself the baggalini bag everyone is talking about for under $20. That should hold all the stuff we need to carry, from extra socks to our tickets to whatever else we need.

By the way, I got autograph books at The Laughing Place for $6 I think.

we only use lanyards when we go to Universal so the kids can wear their room keys for FOTL. We never use them at disney.

I always use a lanyard at Disney. I bought it years ago for less than a dollar in the fishing section at Walmart. It has a little plastic fishing license holder on it that I slip tickets, fast passes, etc. in to keep them handy. I find it very convenient not to have to open a wallet or worry about things falling out of my pocket.
