Deb: We go in Dec/Jan every year. Sometimes it can get quite cold (for Florida ) and down to the 30's. I usually bring my DD's winter jacket for her. My husband and I layer. I have a Columbia waterproof shell with a zip-in fleece. He has a Patagonia shelled fleece. We'll also layer sweatshirts and/or long sleeve shirts under.

ETA: We pack everything. Shorts, pants, long sleeves, short sleeves, sandals, and even a tank top or two.

We travel down from BOS in layers, so we choose, once we get to Orlando, how many layers we need to wear at night. We've never needed ALL the layers we needed in BOS, but it came close one year!

Our last two spring trips (Easter 2004, Spring break 2005) started out with cold nights. Everyone had on jackets, hats...however, the parks were still crowded.

The gifts shops were packed with people looking for jackets or sweatshirts. Many people ended up buying beach towels to wrap up in.

Both trips we had two or three cold nights.

Bring the jacket. You can't predict the weather. I've been there in swimming weather and I've seen the snow fly(in Epcot!) It can easily go from 80 degrees to 32 in a day.

Wow, I think we were looking forward to temps in the low 60's at night. We are driving down so we will pack winter coats, I am starting to get clothes ready. I think I will have to pack more this time than when we have headed down in the spring. I am even wondering about winter boots, in case we have car trouble going thru the cold states. We were there last Dec and had a Fantasmic dinner package on the night that it dropped below freezing which was record setting. It did get chilly sitting there but otherwise I was fine with just a few layers. To put it into perspective the HIGH at home that day was 4 F(roughly -12 C I think). We didn't really have swimming weather but it was still much nicer than home and was such a great time of year to be at the World that we'll be back in 2 weeks.

You never know. Orlando can be cold and windy in December, or nice and warm in the 70s, or (as another poster mentioned) both in the same day!

In December 2003, we each brought coats but no hats or gloves, and after the sun went down, we were so cold one evening that we just went back to our hotel. So when we went back in December 2004, we brought coats, hats, gloves, and DH even went out and bought long underwear! All we needed in the evenings Dec. 2004 was sweaters with light jackets over them, though, and short sleeves during the day.

Cotton, We're headed down next week. We're going to go ahead and bring the coats and put them in a locker each day. Just have to remember to grab them before we hop.

Groan - we will be there in Feb 06. I was so hoping for a thaw. Oh well, better to be a little chilled and at WDW than warming up the car to go to work at home!!

I would take a heavier jacket, just in case. Sometimes it can get quite cold at night.

To the original poster.... You are from Canada, so I'm thinking a 'heavy' jacket might be a little much. We live in Ohio and take hooded sweatshirts and a pair of gloves at the most. The gloves have only been worn one time in December 2000, but we bring them just in case.

I have been down in december and needed layers...and I'm use to the cold, being from Boston. But I think the worst I have ever had was this past Feb, it was about 30 and we had a wishes cruise that night!! It was freezing!!! We went by gift shops and got xtra sweatshirts, and a blanket...there were, also, plenty on board!!

I have, also, been down there and it was nice in dec, jan, feb...you just never know. I am planning on bringing my sons fall jacket and an extra sweatshirt for our trip next week. And I'm bringing his hat and mittens too...just in case. At least the mittens stay in his pockets of his jacket.

It can be pretty breezy in Orlando. So, it may feel pretty cold even though the temp is in the 40s. It is very hard to predict. Last week, it was pretty cool. Today, it was in the upper 70s. I wore a sweatshirt over a t-shirt last night to CP and was a bit chilled.
