Do we know if the gold is coming off the castle?

I find the gold details on the castle to be rather nice. We will be back in October, and it occurred to me that our August trip may be the last one we experience with the gold stuff on the castle. Any word on changes after the 50th celebration is over?

I have heard from various sources (not sure if they are accurate) that the gold will be coming down. However, I think because of the new theme - the Castle will once again be redecorated - but I am not sure as to what it will look like. So I say the gold will be down by October. :guilty:

"Year of a Million Dreams is the next promotion"

There are numerous posts on here about it. It was announced yesterday. One of the dreams is spending the night in the castle.

Yes, I've read of the new promotion, and it sounds positively wonderful. That said, I haven't seen anything about changes to the castle. I suspect that it will all come down, but it took several months to install--could take a bit of time to get it down as well. Just curious.

Yes the gold will come off. It will take a few weeks to do that, I would imagine the castle will be back to its original form by Christmas. As part of the new celebration there will be a "Vacancy/No vacancy" sign put up! :rotfl2:

Aren't we glad the pink birthday cake decorations came down off the castle five or so years ago?

I was thinking this too- when it looked like giant pink cake for the 25th birthday of MK? That was our oldest dd's first trip- she was three- and she didn't think she was at Disney World because the castle didn't look like the pictures we had shown her.

In March I was told by a reliable CM that the only thing coming down is the Cameo which shows the different castles. The rest is staying. I guess we'll find out soon enough.

So I wonder if the castle will look like it's "under construction" when we're there the last week of September? I hope not...how terrible would it be to not be able to take pictures of the castle?!

I was hoping that, for our trip in november, all the gold would be down. We're taking a couple of friends with us this time, and neither of them have ever been, so we were hoping they'd get to see the classic beauty of the castle. I'm losing hope though!

I also read somewhere that they were taking the "mirror" down from the entrance, but leaving all the gold decorations intact. I hope that's true, I LOVE the gold!

I agree, I adore the new gold decorations!! Especially Peter and the Darling children flying :goodvibes

To me they just add to the castle b/c they're small enough that they don't completely cover it

I love the gold on the Castle but hate, hate, hate that mirror. So, if they leave the gold but take the mirror away, I'll be a very happy girl!!

I really like the golden decorations. I hope they stay. I think the mirror is a bit much, though.

I also really love Cinderellabration, the costumes are beautiful! I will probably like the replacement show too. I'm not hard to please.

I remember visiting in '97 for my Honeymoon, and was very disappointed with Cinderella's Caksel. Although now, looking back at my pictures, I really enjoy seeing it. It was a once in a lifetime experience, even though I didn't appreciate it at the time.

I really hate, hate, hate the mirror so at least that is going. I do however hope they remove all the decorations. I may be a traditionalist but the castle is beautiful in it's self.. no need to glam it up. It's a classic.

I guess I am a castle purist. I really like it as is was originally. Maybe because that was how I first saw it as a child.

The CM I spoke with yesterday said the castle would remain the same throught 2006. So, who knows!!?? :confused3

We were there while they were decorating it for the 50th- Oct 2004- and it was awful! Cranes and platforms everywhere, really bad show!
