I have a dream itinerary, crossing Glacier National park from west to east this year, Felt the need to share.

I have been there a few times, but have never been able to hike this extensively in the park.

Pictures might be posted in the late summer / fall if people are interested. .

We hike quite a bit in our area......of course, quite a bit means I take 2 to 3 mile hikes in the woods in the area. So no overnights or multi day hikes or anything like that.

Hiking is one of our favorite family activities and we are blessed to have so many great trails in our area to enjoy.

I would be interested in pictures. And if you could get a picture of a moose that would be great.

I'm not that level of hiker - day hikes only, thus far - but I would LOVE to see your pictures and hear all about it if you're inclined to share. Glacier is one of the most beautiful places I've ever seen and if anywhere could inspire me to attempt a thru-hike, that would be it.

I have walked the Welsh Coastal path which is 870 miles in total, but I did it in stages over the course of a year, rather than one long hike. It is absolutely stunning.
I would like to see your photos and read more about your plans. I am longing to do a long distance overseas hike, but I just can’t decide where to go. Maybe New Zealand.

Yes! I backpacked (week+ long trips) in the Rockies in high school/college. My husband through-hiked the AT when he was 23. When we lived in California we did parts of the Muir trail. Now we mostly do day hikes bc of our kids but as they get older we hope to start going again as a family.

We day hiked in Glacier, Yellowstone, and Grand Teton NPs. I have backpacked the Northville Placid Trail in the Adirondacks, some sections of the Long Trail in Vermont, the Chilkoot Trail in Alaska and BC, and some other places in the Adirondacks.

I've hiked a fair amount, and have backpacked in Ca and Tn. Sadly work, busy schedules, and geographic limitation keeps my trips short and local these days. Did get in a 5 mile hike in last weekend, even spotted a copperhead on the path.

Day hiker only here. We scored the elusive and very hard to get day pass for Lake O’Hara in Yoho National Park in 2018. I’ve never seen such magnificence in all my life. Every moment was absolutely breathtaking.

For anyone who hikes I highly recommend Banff, Yoho and Jasper National parks in Canada. My husband and I are planning to start travelling to as many North American National parks as we can to see the beauty of our continent. We currently live in the Niagara escarpment so it’s a great place to get in shape and train out on the trails.

Used to be more into hiking, but not so much now with children. Have barely done any actual backpacking, but I still have most of my equipment.

I don't believe they use/allow bear canisters, but it might pay to check. I think they might have designated backpacking sites with hang poles or bear boxes to stash food in bags.

The only thing about Glacier that would freak me out is dealing with grizzly bears.

The Adirondacks is my favorite place to hike! I’m a 46er, working on my NE111. I’m at 82/115.

Absolutely one of our favorite trips ever! We did the Mighty Five in Utah this summer....so very different, but stunning nonetheless.

Only slightly off topic, but I thought I'd ask anyway.

Glacier is on our radar, but having done Banff, Jasper and Yoho, I wonder if the scenery will be much the same. Is it worth doing, or will we be underwhelmed?

If you haven't ever been, try the Porcupine Mountains in the western UP. Absolutely stunning.

DH and I went there on our first vacation together. We stayed at the modern campground and did a lot of day hikes. While out on the trails I often thought I would like to try an overnight hike and camp out but then I got a look at the bear pole and a pile of bear scat and quickly admitted my limitations. Day hikes are where it's at for me.
