I was just wondering, do you think that your involvement with the DIS Collectors board has affected the level that you collect? If you had never happened upon this board (or any pin board for that matter) do you think you would collect as much as you do? Do you think you would still be addicted or would the hobby have lost interest for you?

I'm absolutely sure that my "addiction" has been fed by my involvement with you guys ;) And you know what? I wouldn't trade it for anything! (even a Jail Scene :D)

if I hadn't found DIS, I wouldn't have found all you great traders, and I would never have become the pin addict that I am..its a "good" addiction, however, and the wonderful friends I have made thru DIS and pin collecting have been super duper!!! yay!

I've said it before and I'll say it again. It's all Cynthia's fault! If I hadn't read that a meet was going to happen at a local mall, I wouldn't have stop by and got suck in. I blame the CT Contingent plus Dom.

Not only for pins but my total disney-itis has been caused by the DIS boards.

LOL Mario. Happy to be of "service".

If Disney had tried to start pin trading before the age of the internet, it would have ended long before now. Even though pin trading has gotten me into the parks 10 times more often then before I discovered pin trading, that's the result having the boards feed my addiction on a daily basis.

Long live the boards!!!

Cynthia

Everybody collects and trades for their own reasons...Ours was kind of a family thing...We had been going to the Contemporary pin meets from almost the beginning, scoureg the parks talking up the meet, but no one told us about the boards until the Aug pin meet...

Our first posts were about joining the boards, so we could partake in the Mean Laureen Jazzy Jeff adventures...One of the first posts I read....was Jeffs pre. adventures and I was hooked....I guess now it could be considered "off topic" but that was it...These pin people were crazy, and we fit right in....

I had been collecting other Disney items for years...had a complete "Disney" room at home...but it was these boards, and the people we have gotten to know and become friends with...being able to put faces to everyone at the pin meets, and events...that made our "pin collecting" stick...
I love the fact that we are able to interact w/ each other here, share adventures, ups, downs. to be able to trade...being down here in Fl. we are able to sometimes help those who are not get the pin they need...

This is different from other internet boards...we have actually met each other...we share personal moments as well as our pin addiction, or what ever it is we collect...

that changes the way we interact w/ each other on a daily basis....that is why we have so many "off topic posts"...
because we are all so close...and by "close" I don't mean "clicks" I think we try not to do that..we want the newbies to be as involved as everyone else....

I love reading about everyones adventures..(miss you Jeff) hearing about the great trades ..being able to send pixie dust when there is an illness... I just love the boards just like they are...that what got us kept us interested in all of this to begin w/...got us going to all the events..

Has the DIS kept me hooked....you're darn right....and do I love every minute of it....double ditto

Sorry to be so long winded...but you did ask lol

Absolutely, positively the boards feed my addition. But it is so much more than learning about pins, trading, finding out what is going in the parks.
Especially for me, with my medical problems, I would leave pins for bit and come back, leave again........but I always felt like this was a safe haven. A group of friends that did not judge me, but support me and cuddle me.....my little saying has always been......
"What good are the pins without the friends to go with them!"
And I feel that is sooooo true.

I agree without the internet I think the Pin Trading Phenom would have died. It is so great to have this medium to connect with others.

The DIS is definitely responsible for my addiction. The pin traders at our Chicago DIS meets are really nice and piqued my interest in trading at WDW while we were on our last trip. The rest is history, as they say!

There is no way I would still be collecting pins at the level I currently do with out this baord and PinPics. I first came on looking for Villain character pins to complete a set I was trying make (and STILL have not finished!!). I would have bought what I could off e-bay, made the set, finished it :D, MAYBE made a couple of other sets, and lost interest long before now. The friendships I have made and the fun I have had has been worth every penny I've spent on pins 10 times over!

The boards most definitely contribute to my "addiction." I would have lost interest long ago without them. It is so neat to be able to go online to find out what pins will be available when I am at the parks and so wonderful to be able to trade online for the ones I am not thre for. Geez, think about how you feel when the "boards are down!" But more importantly, I think it is so cool that I now have friends in Maine, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Connecticut, New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Maryland, Kentucky, Virginia, Georgia, Florida, Ohio, Texas, Arizona, Illinois, California, Japan, Germany and France that I didn't have two years ago! Apologies if I missed anyone...

And Mario, I gladly accept some of the blame for feeding your addiction!!:D
