We are flying Virgin in January and pondering using Magical Express. One thing that might help us make up our mind is if Virgin are still doing a check in at Downtown Disney. I just looked on their site but could not see a reference to it. Anyone know if this is still available?

Hi we used Downtown Disney check in in May as far as i know they still do it as long as the weather is ok.

Yes they still do it, we came back early September.

Would advise you to get there early though as it does get busy.

Thanks! We used it last time we flew with Virgin and thought it was a great idea.

Can you use DTD if flying with and booked through VA and not VH?

I would imagine if you are flying with Virgin you can yes - however, there is a charge of $5 per person if you have not been given the vouchers.

Yes, that's right, with VA you just pay $5 each for the voucher. With VH its included in the package.

Yep was there last sat- $5 charge for economy and premium econ unless you booked with Virgin holidays- Its well worth it, the line at MCO was massive!!

Make sure you get there early though, the check-in line at DTD can be quite long in the morning. It is very popular.

What time does it open and what do you call early? Think the only time we used it we got there about 11am and it was not too bad. Just trying to think how efficient we need to be packing all our bags! ;)

We came back on 7 October and got to DTD Virgin check in at 8.50am - all done and dusted by 9.20 am. Had the rest of the day to chill and get some more shopping and no heavy suitcases to mess around with :)

Well worth the $5 per person.

Hi,
We got there about 08:30 - mainly because we were in a villa and had to check out by 10:00.
Getting our suitcases out of the way meant we could just get back in plenty of time.
Just wanted to get there and get it all out of the way, guess I have no real evidence to suggest it's busy all day - just that by 09:00 there were about 20 families there when we were q'ing.

We plan on using it in December, as we have a Towncar Transfer booked will probably grad a cab from the resort to DTD, check in and then either do some shopping in DTD or head back to a park until it's time for our Towncar pickup :)

We came back on Sunday, went to the check in at 8.20 about three families in front of us.

They checked in three other Virgin flights that morning, we were finished and on our way by 8.50.

Whilst we were queing about four other families turned up did not seem too busy.

Do you need to take your hand luggage with you to Downtown Disney when you check in? It would be convenient to leave it at the hotel if possible!

Hello mikki.young,

No you do not all they want is your suitcases, everybody from your party, passports and tickets.

If you get there about 8.15 should not be too many people there, we were back at the hotel by 9.15.

We usually leave our hand luggage at the hotel. It's just bags/cases for the hold that you check in at DTD. You go through all the usual security checks with your hand luggage later at the airport.
