Do villas have a minimum stay?

I was looking at booking a studio at Polynesian Villas for 7 nights. When it gave me the total I decided a shorter stay was more realistic for my budget. When I changed to 3 nights (within that same 7 nights) it showed no availability. Thought it was weird it sold out so fast so tried looking again at 7 nights and there was availability. Is there a minimum stay for villas? I’m looking at October if that has any impact.

It's not a villa thing, it's Disney's booking algorithm trying to avoid empty rooms.

So I called Disney Reservations thinking maybe it was just an online thing and I was told that there is a minimum night stay for Disney Polynesian Villas (trying to book a standard view studio). Although the system shows it is available for 7 nights, I cannot book it for 3 either online or over the phone. She said this may change closer to the dates, but its unlikely.
Is this correct? I know Disney customer service sometimes gives incorrect information (which I'm hoping this is). Has anyone had success booking shorter stays over the phone? Should I call back?

Forgot to add. I also asked if I could book 7 nights and then cancel 4 and she said no it would cancel my whole reservation and then not be available for 3.

There is no minimum night restriction per se. As @JETSDAD stated, this is the booking algorithm causing issues. The system is designed to limit "orphaned" rooms, rooms unbooked for a night or two. It's easier for them to book a room for 7 nights than for 4 nights.

Your best bet would be to speak to Guest Services as they are able to override the system. Now they have the ability to do this, but sometimes they say no.

Thank you!!! The reservation agent I spoke to was pretty firm on the fact I could not book for 3 nights. I will call back & try again. I appreciate your help.
