Wow, those prices are higher than I expected:scared1:it may be cheaper to fly to PC:confused3

If they sell out then they aren't high enough. I'd never pay that price, but maybe enough will.

That seriously is CRAZY. So very disappointing!!

Totally to high for us to even consider even living in NJ. We're seriously considering other cruise lines to try new itins. Doing one of the new routes with Disney would be SOOO much more expensive. I like DCL but I don't know if I "double the price of others" like it lol. This may really push us to try other lines. I could take 2 vacations elsewhere for the price of one of these itins.

It is disappointing. It will be cheaper to fly my family of five to PC and get better ports! If the price was reaonable then I was excited. I guess I need to send my TA an email and tell her that I no langer want her to put a hold on an 8 day from NY.

Crazy!

I know this is just my opinion...but I would not pay those prices for the Magic/Wonder. There are other lines with ships that have such amazing ammenities and much nicer itineraries. I love DCL but I've had a great time on RCI too. I won't pay that much money for the Magic/Wonder....unless it's going someplace great. For example, I'd consider paying more for the Magic/Wonder to take my kids to Alaska/Europe/Hawaii where having Disney as a home front might be worth a little more to me. Especially the first 2 (Alaska/Europe) because they aren't destinations aimed at young kids so having DCL take us would make the trip more kid-friendly. I will not pay an insane price to take an older ship with less ammenities to Port Canveral and Nassau.....even if I do love DCL.

Living in PA I always price cruises out of NYC to avoid flying to Florida. 99% of the time the NYC cruises are so expensive (and take may days of being at sea to get to the carribbean) that I always opt for the Florida cruises. It's so disappointing that they price them so high.

It seems it's about the same to me. I paid $2300 (plus $450 for airfare) for a 4A for a 4 night on the Dream for this summer for 1A & 1C (9). For 8 nights that would come to about $4600 for only 2 people.

They were a lot higher than I guessed but we're booked for our anniversary trip to NYC plus our DCL fix for the two night. Here's rate as FYI for people booking tomorrow but this is for our family size - 2 adults, 1 child (2) and insurance is NOT in these prices:

Inside: $1061.42
OV - deck 2 9C: $1330.42
OV - deck 6 9A: $1462.42
Nav Verandah: $1582.42
Verandah: $1710.42
Concierge: $3199.42

8 night
OV 9A: $4249.69
Ver 5C: $5029.69

Also, they do NOT know which port yet be it Brooklyn, Manhattan, or Bayonne.

DCL is easily double the price of other cruise lines, even when leaving from PC. With that said I am still looking into the 8 day out of NYC, and I will use my Disney Reward Dollars to take some of the sting out :) . In my opinion cruises to nowhere are never a good deal.

Wow - i was really excited about the Magic sailing out of NY and not having to pay airfare from Long Island, but that's way too rich for my blood :sad2:
Guess i won't be sailing DCL summer of 2012

Could you tell me which dates you received these quotes for?

I only looked at the 2 nights one and what I was looking at was $175 each.

I made a reservation for the Aug. 10 and Aug. 12 cruises and I'm just not sure we will be keeping them. I've been getting that survey from DCL for years with that question about sailing out of NY and assumed they would sail from there eventually and thought I would be on the ship for sure....but now I don't know.

I always hoped for Bermuda, because we've never been there. We've done the NY to Florida/Bahamas cruise on NCL and don't need to repeat that! The "starting price" quoted in the press release sounded decent for the Canada and Cruise to Nowhere, and it seemed like a good idea.

I can't open my reservation on Disney's website right now to see the price breakdown. I'm guessing I won't have access to the reservation until tomorrow. I'm 99% sure we'll cancel the 2 nighter and MAYBE keep the 5 night Canadian cruise.

Or maybe we'll just head into the city and take a few nice photos of the Magic when it is in port! So close...

Ok...I am confused....did the DCL CM on the phone tell you that they really did not know which port yet??? That seems crazy that they would not know yet. Also, their own website says departing from NEW YORK, NEW YORK which means Manhattan. That just blows my mind that they really don't know which port yet.

Also, if you have not done so yet could you please post your quotes into the pricing thread at the top of the forum....thanks.

It was in the paper today that it is definitely sailing out of the Manhattan Cruise Terminal. Bloomberg is even quoted in the article. Can't imagine that DCL would book cruises without having the terminal in place. :confused3
