Do they still...Do you remember when...

I also remember a great seafood buffet they use to have at the Poly and they gave every woman or girl a real flower lai. We use to love going to Discovery Island. It was always so quiet and cool. Can remeber when there was no international gateway at Epcot. Another thing was if you wanted to stay in a hotel in the park you had to make ressi, at least a year in advance as there were only three hotels, Compt, Poly and what is now the SOG.

Since sanilacjack brought up old music, what about "Tomorrow's Child" for Spaceship Earth. Fortunately they still use the instrumental portion for the backround music in FW, but I desperately miss the music in SE. And what about "Listen to the Land"

Veggie Veggie Fruit Fruit...Kitchen Kabaret

And although we only ate there once, the Tangora Terrace in the Poly had a great buffet.

or do I remember that the park hours for the Magic Kingdom hours were almost always until midnight?

oh, and thanks for putting the ride tunes in my head.

Let's listen to the land we all love......... and

Now is the time, now is the best time.

I don't think you're crazy. When we used to go for Memorial Day week and during the summer, MK was often open until midnight. It was always so much fun to hear the tram driver announce that the "Magic Kingdom is open until midnight". That always set the stage for a fabulous day!:D

'If you had wings, had wings, had wings...'

Brings back memories of me as a kid in platform shoes and Eastern Airlines, 'The wings of man'.

I miss Discovery Island. Me and DW always had a relaxing time there. I so much wanted my DD to go there, since she loves animals. Oh, well... guess I'll have to 'settle' for staying at AKL! ;)

I remember this from the times I went as a kid, but do you remember the Mike Fink Keelboats? When did they close permanently? Since I started going back as an adult in '94, they were 'open seasonally', until they were eliminated. I liked that ride as a child.

I miss the buffet lunches (1982) served at what now are California Grill and 'Ohana.

Radio Disney Cruise. (as a previous poster mentioned) - the boats that encircled Safari Village (well, almost encircled). We rode them in 1999, but in 2000 they were gone. I remember thinking while we were riding that the ridiculous theme would never work. I wish they could return the boats and put a live narrator on them - maybe some park facts, or just a quiet, relaxed ride around the island.
Also, I miss the old poly pool.

You can still see the track for the Swan Boats if you stand on the bridge that's in the picture posted.
I also miss when Toowntown Fair was Mickey's Birthday Land and the train played that music about it between Frontierland and Birthday Land. That was about 10 years ago.

I forgot all about those Swan Boats.....thanks for the memory.

The last time we did and EE morning at the MK was Sept 2001, and ther was a rope, music and an announcement.....I dont recall what it says at the moment (that's what I have DH for). But its a little ceremonial - kind of cool.....

Ok, help me, I not sure if dreaming this or what, but in Epcot, the Odyssey building, didn't that used to be a shop (I swear I shopped there) and what the heck is it now???

The Odyssey was a counter-service restaurant that featured a small character stage show at various times. The building is still there. I believe it is used for special events.

I also remember WS opening at the same time as FW (as recently as 1991, the year of our belated honeymoon). We also used to do the same thing...pastries at France for breakfast.

I remember Communicore at Epcot (now Innoventions, of course), with the Sunrise Terrace and Stargate restaurants. I remember ordering the "Stellar Scramble" breakfast pizza at Stargate...delicious.

I remember when you had to make meal reservations at Epcot at 2-way TV stations (you could see and hear the reservation agent) in "Earth Station" at the base of Spaceship Earth. Very cool.

I remember the double-decker buses around WS.

I remember the Odyssey restaurant.

I remember the Au Petit Cafe in France.

I can still hear the strains of "Magic Journeys" (from the original JIY 3-D film) filling the air in FW. JIY was my favorite attraction as a teen. The original ride, "Magic Journeys" and the Image Works were so cool.

I remember Epcot without Norway, Morocco, The Living Seas, Wonders of Life and Horizons (which is gone again) and there was still so much to do.

As you can probably tell, Epcot, er, EPCOT Center, was and is my favorite park.

We had some of our best DW vacations staying in the Disney Village area. A few times we had a townhouse right on the water across from the village and Pleasure Island. Other times we stayed in a Fairway Villa.
We always rented a golf cart for the entire stay. It was so much fun to drive it over to the Village and Pleasure island. You could plug it in to recharge while you were there. We also took late night excursions on the golf courses. We put some miles on those carts!
I remember one time when we went to Pleasure Island at night. There were 2 golf carts taking up the space for 3 carts. My husband and brother-in-law picked them up and moved them over! :p

Ahhh... the pastries in France early in the morning...a wonderful way to start the day!

Wonder why they got rid of the swan boats, they look adorable. Maybe they'll bring them back???:D

when the Crystal Palace was a Cafeteria Style Resteraunt!;) My late Mom loved to go there for lunch!;)

I lovvved the swan boats-they were still there in 1981I felt like a 10 yr old princess riding in those!......Other things I miss--dining in the Empress room, the Pappeete Bay Veranda rest at Poly, the "old" imagination ride with Figment, taking classes at the Institute--the cooking and animation classes there were so much fun!

When I went as a "kid"--from 1980-92 or so, we had "key" cards--credit card type things, kind of like the room keys they have today, but with impressed numbers. You used them for breakfast, lunch, dinner, snacks, little speed boat rentals and to get into the parks. Alcohol wasnt included (I was too young anyway), but tips were. I know the meals and activities were included in the package. When DH and I honeymooned in 1996, they had done away with these cards--we did the food and fun instead, which was much more limiting. (WIth Key cards, the mini boats were included, for as long as you cared to ride them each day, and all sit-down rest were included.) So, yup, I miss key cards!
