Do they sell Ponchos at Kali River Rapids?

HI~
I've heard a few stories about people getting absolutely drenced on KRR.
In an attempt to avoid this, I'm considering buying a few ponchos.
I don't live near a KMart or a WalMart (they're at least 1/2 hour away)- only some stores that I'm certain will overcharge on whatever Ponchos they have.

I'd like to spend maybe .99, but won't mind spending $3-$4 if I need.

I heard they sell Ponchos outside of KRR. Is this true? Does anyone know what the charge is? Are they consistently available- or only on some days?

Thank you!

We bought them at a small cart near there last December. I don't remember what we paid but it was reasonable. They really helped!

They should have them at a small cart before you enter the Kali Rapids and they are about $6.00 each (adult/child) when we were there last August. But whats the fun of riding the rapids if your not going to get soak.... :woohoo: :woohoo: :boat:

Do you have a Dollar Store or something like that? I bought ours at the Dollar Store 2 for 1.00 and brought them with us. I didn't wear one and got soaked. My DD's had them on and were dry. When we were finished with the ride, we instead of throwing them away gave them to some other people in line. Hopefully it made them happy.

Buy some on eBay ! I bought a pack of 8. We'll just use them for Kali and Splash and toss them when we're done this way we wont have to carry them around once they're wet. The ones I got on ebay were $8.99 (+ ship) for the 8, and they come in clear, blue or yellow. I think the "official" WDW ponchos cost $7 each.

We always buy some at the dollar store and never wear them because we like to get wet when we go on that ride. The poncho's are sold just outside Kali River Rapids from one of those carts but I can't remember if they were $6 or $8. Sorry I couldn't be more help.

I personally never get wet on these rides. Other than a few small splash marks on my shirt, wet shoes, and a wet tush from the seat. So you may make it through unscathed.

I don't understand why people ride these rides if they are afraid of getting wet. It's a water ride designed to drench the rider. The one sure-fire way to stay dry is to not ride.

Are some of you saying that the only fun thing about this attraction is getting wet? I really don't find it hard to understand why some people may enjoy the ride without getting soaked. Not everyone attends the park on a 90 degree day.

You know that you just jinxed yourself! Because you said that you never get wet on rides :rotfl2: next time you go you will get soaked. When we went on cali I could ring out my shorts with water dripping everywhere! I looked like I had just gotten out of the shower except that my hair was dry.

I took $1 ponchos on a very similar raft ride at Kings Island (OH). They worked, but I felt lousy afterward putting them in the trash -- not very good for the environment to use up that petroleum (what plastic is made from) and then put it in a landfill.

You need to make up your mind: do you want to get so wet you'll be able to wring a cup of water out of your underwear two hours later? If not, don't ride! :rotfl:

The first time we did the Kali ride, I hardly got wet and this time we GOT WET!!!

Here's pic of my DS and look at the expression on his face... he didn't mind getting wet at all! He loved it!!! :woohoo: My DS and I were the ones that was soak from head to toe... I have to buy new shirt...or an excuse to buy new shirt... hmmmmm... :rotfl: :rotfl:

Two years ago we went on Kali and got so drenched that I had to buy new clothes...did you know that they don't sell underwear at the parks?!? (at least I couldn't find any!) :rotfl2:

This year we bought ponchos at the Dollar Tree and we wore them the couple of times we went on the ride and then passed them off to another family waiting in line. We had lots of people ask us where we got them. I sure didn't mind staying dry-ER (still got a bit damp from water coming in around the hood) and enjoyed the ride much more than the time I was drenched.

We haven't been on Kali YET...but we are hopefully going during our upcoming trip. I went out and bought 10 ponchos at $0.89 each. I figure one poncho for each of us if it rains, and one for each of us FOR Kali.

$4.45 is worth it rather than have to listen to 3 kids AND DH complain that they are wet and cold and miserable!

They sell childrens underwear at a kiosk at the exit of Kali along with socks, shoes, birks, flip flops, boys swim trunks, tshirts, adult shirts, womens cut tshirts, skirts & capri's. There's aslo brushes, hair do dads, combs and sunscreen. I took pictures, I thought it was hysterical. Oh - the womens restroom at the exit has the air hand dryers also instead of paper towels and I saw many women lined up to dry themselves off. So if you're small enough to fit into a childs large you can indeed get underwear.

I always say that, partially in the hopes that it will eventually happen, and yet it never does. And I've ridden White Water Caynon at King's Dominion and Roman Rapids at BG hundreds of times.

I hope that your luck stays with you. You could ride with me, cause always tend to get wet. I like the water rides, and don't mind getting a little wet, but soaked is another story.
