we are taking the magical express next month and I was told that Disney will pick up our luggage at the airport and take it to our room. Another CM told me I had to pick it up and go through customs, then board the bus. We are flying in from Toronto to Orlando. Has anyone walked off the plane gotten on the bus and had their luggage arrive without picking it up themselves?

Most of the major airports (including Pearson) we clear customs in Canada and we are essentially on US Soil once we pass through security which means our flights are then treated like domestic once we land in Orlando.

If your flight lands between 5 am and 10 pm you luggage will be picked up and delivered to your resort if you put the yellow ME tags on them. MOST international flights need to clear customs in Orlando and it's just not something most CMs are aware of!

AFAIK it is only AC or WJ, not sure if the others have that agreement. Best to check. Sunwing no not sure of AT.

Thanks for that heads up for everyone -- i just *assumed* it was for all flights out of Pearson based on their website's statement of

For the majority of U.S. flights, passengers leaving Toronto will go through U.S. Customs and Border Protection in Toronto. This means you arrive in the United States as a domestic passenger.

Guess i missed that one little section "the majority of", prime example of the true meaning of "ASSUME" :P

We flew from Toronto to Orlando via Air Canada.

Just in case you didn't know though, it may be a few hours before your baggage arrive in your room. People have said its generally 3 hours, but we were at Port Orleans Riverside last month, and we arrived at 11am, but our bags didn't show up to our room until 5:30pm. Not a big deal, but make sure you pack some essentials in a carryon. We threw a spare shirt, socks underwear and bathing suits in our carry on.

I can say that it was a GREAT feeling to just walk off the plane and head to the DME checkin, without having to grab the bags. :) I just wish we could do it on the way home too!! Maybe some day!

Dont forget to ditch your carryons at the resort if you plan on hitting the park.

Thanks everyone! Can't wait to go next month!! Second Disney trip this year (first one was a back to back cruise).

You should be fine w the baggage. As a PP has mentioned, do note the time when you are expected to land. If after 5pm, I don't use the yellow luggage tag & pick up my own bag from the carousel & then bring it with me on the Magical Express. After a long day of traveling, I just don't want to deal with late luggage in the room.

If our flight comes into MCO at 8:40pm would it be better for us to just bring our luggage on ME with us so we have it right away? Otherwise will it come later at night?

We always collect our luggage, our flight usually arrives around 5 or 6 so we head straight to POR for supper and then settle in to our room & unpack etc so we are well rested and ready to hit the parks bright and early the next morning.

I flew Air Transat last time and we used the luggage delivery service with no issues. It was a huge time saver with two little ones to contend with. Luggage arrived shortly after we did but I always pack shorts/capris in one of the carry ons for a quick change if I need to.

What's the process of US Customs at Pearson (my first time connecting there from Montreal) ? Are there any APC kiosks at Terminal 3 (the new kiosks for Customs) ?

It might depend on your departure time. Not Disney but traveling on a cruise with an early AM departure from Toronto. Assume customs were not open yet and cleared them in Florida.

Yes they have those kiosks in Terminal 3 -- used them in January. I'm not 100% sure how it will work if you're connecting from Montreal though ... hope someone else can weigh in who has used Pearson as a connecting airport.

we've learned what happens when you arrive late the hard way. magical express gets the luggage to your hotel within 3 hours of the time you check in, not the time you land. one trip we had a long travel day with an unexpected delay. we crashed when we got to the hotel but we couldn't crash too much--we had no extra clothes and no toiletries with us. it was past 1 when the lovely cast member
rolled up with the bags. in the future, i'll definitely still use the yellow tags, but i'll have everything i need for one night in my carry on (a set of jammies for everyone and toothbrushes at least), regardless of expected arrival time.

if you're arriving late and don't want the luggage to come right to your room (that is, you've planned ahead and aren't waiting for your toothbrush!) you can ask the front desk to hold your luggage and pick it up in the morning.

will they let you board the bus to the resort with your luggage? (first time staying at a Disney resort)

absolutely. they'll put almost everything under the bus (including carry on sized suitcases), so make sure to keep anything vital in a backpack or other small bag. but if you don't put the yellow tags on (that tell the disney employees to pull your luggage and transport it later) you'll just treat the airport like any other: get your bags from the luggage carousel and follow the mickey heads. have fun!
