DO they really check your fingerprints on your ticket?

I read that the new tickets have a finger scan implemented the first time you use them- is this really true?

YES, Disney has been doing the biometric finger scan (not really fingerprint) for AP holders for almost 10 years. The passes are non-transferrable and the "honor" system doesn't do a very good job on preventing guests from sharing or even re-selling passes.

It actually doesn't take your fingerprints-- it measures the shape & size of the bones in your fingers.

Yes...and it really works. My wife and I switched APs a couple years ago to try to get in with each others passes. We're quite the rable rowzers!!! The scan actually worked and we were denied access until, oopps, we both realized that we had the wrong pass, and we were let in. No getting around the Mouse these days!! ::MickeyMo

~All passes get finger"print" scanned now~

Whether you have an AP, a paper card or (in my case) a plastic pass bought at a Disney Store, every one gets scanned.

I'm expecting some trouble when we go. We have some passes from our last trip left over, but didn't write who's was who's on them. Not too big a deal we can just switch...then again they never fingerprint me in my ECV

Park Hopper passes purchased prior to Jan. 2/05 are not included in the biometric scanning system. You have never been "fingerprinted" in your ECV only because the system didn't connect passes to biometrics. MYW tickets will require biometrics -- ECV or not.

I am planning on buying my tickets at AAA so since they are actual passes, will I have to have my finger scaned the first time I use it?

(AAA passes are like the old 5 day hoppers but they expire 14 days after the first use).

I wouldn't be so sure about ECV or not. I saw SEVERAL people in ECV type devices just get let through without the scan, because they couldn't reach the scanners from their seated position.

The biometrics are for the right hand. The gate to allow ECVs in are to the right of the scanners so if you are in an ECV/WC you can not reach the scanners. I always give my driver's license with my AP to the CM.

We've had AP for many years. My DD uses a wheelchair and has never had the biometric scan. She would not be able to reach it from her seated position.

We went in Feb, with MYW hopper tickets and had to have our fingers read each time. It's rare that I can get it right, and I usually hold up the line. I have since gotten an AP and have been there 4 more times (hopping each day) and I think I have inserted my fingers correctly only twice. I have to keep my ID handy because I still don't get it right!! :rotfl2: :earsboy:
