Do they only pick families?

Anyone know if any just couples not families have been picked for the Castle?

How about disabled guests any of those?

How those "picked" to stay in the castle are selected has nothing to do with the size of the family or anything else. It is entirely based on exactly where you are at a certain time of day. A computer generates the selection and tells the Dream Team exactly where to go - i.e. at 9:30 am, those sitting in row 4 of boat 2 on the Living with the Land ride. This way I suppose there is no discrimination.

I saw the thread from the couple who won on their honeymoon, that was so great!

We are headed for Disney in October and would love to have a dream wish come true. It will just be my husband and I. It will be an anniversary and business trip. I cannot think of a better way to celebrate ANYTHING or to have to conduct business.

I plan on having a very magical trip whether we get picked for anything additional or not.

Any trip is what you make of it!

My DH and I got our "dream" to open the Haunted Mansion so they do pick couples. But we were just excited to be there and some of my favorite WDW memories are of random non dreams like Chip and Dale both trying to take me away from DH, or hearing how the live duck on the bow of the boat was the latest inovation from Disney. And the talking trash can.

Well I hope that they don't discriminate either but this is a subject very near to my heart. I am a single mom for 20 years and have traveled with many children many, many, many times to Disney and we have always noticed that "families" are chosen for different things such as parades, events, ads, etc. My daughters, now grown, have just recently discussed this with me when we watched the new Disney travel CD. I must say that I truly have noticed this. One of my daughters just recently wrote to WDW to bring her observation to their attention. We have not heard back.

I do not think that Disney would discriminate about something like this. I have heard (response above) that they do things randomly.

We always have a great time. We really try to talk to the people working and get to know them. It really is fascinating to go through Epcot and talk to the people who work there and learn about their country. We have always had a great time.

Most of our time will be spent in Epcot, it sounds to me that most of the wishes are happening in MK please let me know of other places where dreams are coming true.

I always thought the same thing. As a single mom , with my 2 kids and my mother, even before YOAMD, I always saw a mom a dad and 2 kids picked for the parades. We have been many, many times, sometimes 2 or more times a year.

FINALLY, during our 2 week trip last Christmas, I noticed "non-traditional" families in the parades.

So there is hope for us yet!

this is so so true. the magic of WDW will always over power anything. if you get picked for something it's great. but just being there is more magic then you can dream up.

How about solo visitors? I always go by myself. While I'm not expecting a "wish or dream" I'd just like to hear about some solos winning one.

We were on line at the AK to go on Tri-Spin... We saw a group of Dream Makers start to come around the area... They had a hand-held computer...Then they came up to a women and small boy in front of us on line to tell them that they won a night in the castle... At the time her husband and other son were off somewhere else, so they had no idea what type of family this was... It was just a mother and her son... Now, after we were the Dream Maker explained and showed us on the computer screen it tells the Dream Maker an exact location and time for a dream to be made... It stated on the screen the ride and the location on the line of the person that was to win...

The Dream Makers have no control over who wins what or where...We know someone that won $500 bucks in Disney shopping for being at a water fountain at the right time and location as staed by the computer.

Well, no. They actually don't use a hand held computer, although it is completely random. What you saw was probably the portable DVD player used to show winners what their prize is.
