Do they check your name for DAS rides?

I know they have a picture of the DAS holder and check to make sure the DAS holder is riding, which is why I wondered if they check to see if the other riders match up? Is it okay to switch who is going on with the DAS holder? Say if I have to take care of our son and I'm listed to go on the ride with my daughter, can my husband just take my magic band and go with her instead? Are they going to stop him and say hey you aren't the right person or are they likely to only be concerned with having the DAS holder right and the correct number of people? Plus how do they know if you are using the correct magic band? I just know that my kids are unpredictable and the adults may have to switch around their plans at the last moment.

Oh that sounds bad. I'm sure it's totally possible, and maybe even probable, but I'm not sure I'm comfortable with the thought of Disney having pictures of me and my family that I don't know about (attached to my name and information). I know they have pictures of people around the park. But if they are checking names, they'd likely realize it without a picture. Do you know if they care?

I'm not trying to break any Disney rules, but I figure if they don't check to see if the people listed are the people riding (beyond the DAS holder of course which should always be checked), then they probably don't really care which family member is riding. I know with Fastpass + they never cared what magic band you were using or at least they never said anything.

I'm not sure what they would do in the above scenario - but is there a reason you aren't adding every family member to the DAS reservation? That way - when it's your return time - everyone is already listed and you don't have to worry about switching? As long as the DAS-holder is riding - I think you can have up to 6 people on the reservation.

We have 8 people in our party. So sometimes I will sit out and sometimes not. Also not all of the kids will want to do the same rides so I just wouldn’t add the people who aren’t going on in the first place. Then if there’s a last minute snafu I figured we could change magic bands. In the past the kids sometimes liked to switch bands throughout the day just for fun so that’s really what made me think of it.

Just so you know, they have to take a photo of the DAS holder and associate it with the account, even if it is a minor. So at least that one is not random or taken from somewhere.

Yes. Which makes perfect sense because the DAS holder needs to be one of the riders.

I have never noticed if companions come up on the screen. I am pretty sure it is just the DAS holder who's picture pops up but not sure what other info comes up with the other members of the group. I know that they look to see if they turn green where you scan the band. There is a decent chance that what you are saying will work, but they tend to frown upon this kind of stuff. They don't take anyone else's picture other then the DAS holder, but you are on camera most of the day anyway so I can't see why it would matter.

To my knowledge only the DAS-holder has a picture checked. People used to swap bands for FP+ all the time and some do now for Genie+. I don’t see why it would matter with DAS parties (except for the DAS-holder who must ride).

Because the whole point of a lot of the changes were to stop the people who get a DAS from being able to give essentially VIP tours and one of those measures was indicating who is in the party, that way people couldn't just change parties constantly. Swapping magic bands around breaks such limitations and is technically violating the rules. It would be best to get everyone in your party linked instead.

they literally scan the das holder and make sure that is the correct person then just make sure all the following family members get a green mickey. They don't have time to compare names and sex of other people. It should not be an issue at all to switch magic bands in this situation. No different than how we did it when fast pass was a thing and I didn't want to ride so I gave my daughter my band to scan so she could ride again - looking at you space mountain lol

Just ask if you can put all 8 people on the DAS. They will usually do it. Then, just get the return times for every rider every time, and simply cancel out the ones who aren't going to ride. You can remove people from each return time right in the app. Or, just book a new return time and the others will drop off the last ride.

I would be upfront about your party size, Like DLgal mentioned. One thing I wouldn't do is lie and do the people swapping. The 60 day rule is obviously intended to keep folks from misusing the pass, and your goal, while not malicious like the "tour guides", is the same misuse and may lead to you not being approved for future DAS passes.

She rode once on her magic band, then right after using mine. We did this at least a half a dozen times each trip, so more than two dozen times, and she never got questioned, not once. If you are concerned it might be an issue, ask at Guest Services or at a blue umbrella or even at the attraction if you need to change things around. You aren't doing anything wrong.

I know people have stopped and gotten riders changed at blue umbrellas, but honestly if my son is having a meltdown, I don't have time for that. At the same time I didn't want to have to tell our daughter she can't go on the ride (and I don't feel comfortable with her going without a parent.) which is why I was hoping they don't care about a quick change up. Now thought having pictures of guests attached to their names. I don't care per se if they have a picture of me, but it does seem a little creepy to have a secret file on guests.

They won't grant a DAS for like 10 people easily, but will likely allow 8, especially if most are kids. Just ask.

Yes, they may also not do the 8 via the advanced registration, you may have to do 6 then and add the other two in person.
