Do they ask for your AP number or voucher number?

When you are booking with an AP code, have you always been asked for your number? My friend said she hasn't been asked for it when she booked with AP codes. My problem is, I'm going to be cashing in the value of my leftover days on a MYW for an AP, so I won't have the numbers until after I book. Just kind of hoping I can get the rate w/o the numbers. It's not like I won't have it when I check in. My plan is to hop off DME and hop on a bus to the park and get the AP before I check in.

TIA

You no longer need the AP number to book a reservation. That policy ended when the previous Best Rate/AP program ended. So, you should be fine to book now and take care of the exchange when you get there.

:)

They will let you check in without your AP, you are just suppossed to go back by the front desk to show them the pass. I had to do this twice before, on the second trip when I checked in I asked if I should bring the pass back & the CM said I did not have too :confused3 .

It means that the CM was wrong not to check unless she already knew from her computer you had an AP? I also wonder why people on these boards advertise that you can can over on Disney. All it does is end up making those of us that do the right thing lose more and more perks. :confused3
Ever wonder how many people show up at Disney without AP's demanding their discounted room when the CM does ask for the card? A lot of those people all read here that they don't check!
I repeat :sad2:

I think this is a little harsh bcsmom was just being honest, nothing wrong with that. :wave2: I think you read too much into her post, she simply answered the OP's question. You can't quell your answers with the possibility that someone will take advantage of it. It's disney's responsibility to follow their rules. I have been twice with AP codes and have never been asked to show my AP, although I do have one and would not make an AP ressie without planning on having to show it at check in. JMHO

The OP's plan IS to get her AP before she checks in. Perfectly fine. Beyond that there is no reason for anyone to tell all how they didn't need their AP, how they don't check bracelets at pools etc. There is a good possiblity that the resort knew that this poster had an AP by computer info. I hope so. It is not only Disney's responsibility to follow rules. It is also resort guests responsibility. That is often lost here. That is a HARSH reality!

First off I was not saying how to get over on Disney. I was just telling her that she could check in then go & get her pass so she would not have to run around for no reason. If people think of that & try to be dishonest then that is on them, I was not telling them to do that. I am a christian person, & I would not do anything intentionally dishonest to anyone including Disney!

I am not saying you did it deliberately...just that you did it.

It was just kind of insulting to read someone disapproving of my post. I was just sharing an experience that I had. No matter what anyone post here if someone wants to do something dishonest, then they will find a way to do that. Look at what happened with the dining plan. I am not here to judge, just to share an experience. Please do not think I am posting this out of anger or anything, I just did not want anyone to think I was being dishonest.

I don't think you were being dishonest at all! It does encourage others to try to beat the system though when they are repeatedly told no one in Disney is doing their jobs, they don't check this they don't check that. Number one, they usually DO check and do a great job and number two sometimes we just give out too much info that does indeed help people defraud Disney. In the end those of us that follow the rules pay the piper.

True, I guess I just did not think of anyone turning it around into something like that. I just did not want the poster to have to keep all of her stuff in the car & run to the park just to get the pass to check in. I will agree that most of the time they do check, so I would not chance lying to them. That would be a good lesson to someone though, if they thought they could get away with it, & then Disney did demand to see a pass. They would have to pay the extra money to buy an AP, or pay the rack rate for the room.

I'll chime in here as this is one of my hangups with the whole AP "frenzy" as I like to refer to it. I have mentioned a few times that I was one of the few people that liked the BRP. I felt that by forcing or verifying that you had an AP or Voucher, the perk that was being offered (a discounted room rate or restaurant discount) was being controlled. I realize that many folks who do last minute trips to DW were caught out and the BRP was not good for them but, I felt that some discount was better than none for the folks that had invested in an AP and could plan a month or so in advance. I think if I understood lakeariel's reply, her concerns are similar to my heartburn with the current and past AP program in that many folks do try to get over on the AP discounts. I witnessed a nasty meltdown in the WL when a lady had booked an AP room and did not have an AP or voucher when the CM asked for it and she had already bought her non-AP tickets. I hope Disney starts to enforce these rules much more stringently. The other problem that is created by not requiring the AP/voucher at the time of booking is the "frenzy" of booking rooms when APs are released that many people have no intention of taking or probably can't afford but the rate just seems "too good to pass up". I realize that these rooms will probably go back into inventory but I just don't understand the panic that these releases seem to cause. I was always under the impression that Disney knew AP rooms were booked by AP holders because everything is in their database but, if folks think they can get over I suppose they will try.
I don't think lakeariel was being nasty intentionally bcsmom, probably just a bit frustrated with how some of these perks get a little messed up by people trying to cut corners. I think we all will agree Disney is expensive and everyone would like a discount but when there is no AP rates available to the actual AP holders then that is obviously frustrating.

Cheers,

Schuey

I totatally understand what she was saying now, I just did not want her to think I was trying to teach people to be dishonest. I was just saying that the lady could check in to her room, then get her AP & bring it back. I guess by posting that they did not always require me to bring it back, was misleading, I was just trying to save her from running around for no reason. I was not meaning for her to say she had an AP, then never buy one. I believe the original poster was saying that she intended on buying an AP, she was not asking if she could book a room & never get one.

BCSMOM, I completely understood what you were saying and did not by any means think you were trying to tell people how to "pull one over on disney." Your response was acurate according to disney. I called and that was pretty much what I was told. I would, however, like to know what happened with the dining plan??? Not tring to cause any trouble. Just curious!

The dining plan thing was people were trying to use child credits for adult meals. So they would pay for the child's meal, & use their credits for the adults. Disney has since put a stop to this I believe. I think they label how many child credits & how many adult credits you have, so you can only use what is intended for each age group.
