And this is simply a new booking category. Not having a microwave hardly makes it a Motel 6.All DVC rooms do. GFV2 is supposed to be DVC.
So all Disney hotels should be priced like a Motel 6? That doesn't even make sense. I'm fairly certain that there are many people paying top dollar to stay at Grand Floridian, including these same rooms, every single night....with no microwave. A lot of people have no interest in cooking at all while on vacation. This will sell out and the rooms will be booked solid every night. Not all rooms work for everyone. All I can say is they better price it like Motel 6 or they won't get many takers. If a regular GFV studio is 18 points for a particular night, these should be half that.
The kitchenette fanatics and the microwave thread are blowing my mind. Truly hilarious
i for one can’t wait to buy gfv points subject to final cost just because of these rooms. Big room, luxury resort, walking distance to MK and two real bed. Fantastic stuff, Disney hit this one out of the park. Home run here
I would be ecstatic if dvc made more of these hotel room conversions.
lets do yacht club next to put someone in the Epcot area. Can’t wait for these no kitchenette rooms
It may not be your thing, but a lot of people use the toaster and/or microwave to make breakfast. We use them all the time for toast, oatmeal, etc for breakfast. For families of 5 having to eat out every morning gets expensive and it is also a time waster.
And that’s the advantage of 1BR and bigger units.
Speaking only for myself, I wouldn’t touch a studio microwave except to heat water quickly if I wanted tea. The kitchenette is too small for any “meals.” With no dishwasher, it’s a pain to keep clean. With no kitchen table, not enough space to sit down for a real meal.
Without a real kitchen, I’m not doing more in the room than coffee/tea, a piece of fruit, maybe a bowl of cereal or cup of yogurt.
And I don’t really need a kitchenette for any of that.
Most Disney rooms do not have a microwave, including Grand Floridian. Villas are the exception.
I was replying to a comment stating that the resort was just a Motel 6 because there may not be microwaves. Sorry, but the Grand Floridian is far from a Motel 6.DVC is a timeshare, not a Disney hotel no matter where it's located. That gets pointed out repeatedly in other conversations regarding benefits etc., yes?
