Do the ships "feel" the same, or different??

I know this is a strange question and has no real purpose other than my curiosity! LOL

But I'm wondering... when I'm on the Wonder for the first time in February, for the most part, will it look and feel the same as the Magic does?? For example, up at the pool deck (and I don't mean the new changes they'll be making to the Wonder next month), for the most part, do the ships "feel" the same? If you didn't KNOW which ship you were on, could you really tell??

Of course when you're in Triton's or Lumiere's or in the lobby (Mickey at the Helm VS Ariel) you can tell which ship you're on, but otherwise, do they seem the same to you??

Again, I'm just curious, and excited to be sailing on the Wonder for the first time this winter :teeth:

Thats a great question Terry. I didn't feel much of a difference myself. Really, the only difference are the restaurants. The set up for everything else is pretty much the same, all awesome! Have a great cruise, again!!

Good question...I've only ever been on the Wonder... :confused3

They both have the same feel to me. If you blindfolded me and placed me on one of the ships, I'd have to go looking to determine which ship I'm on.

We've been on the Wonder and will be on the Magic in three weeks.

I'm expecting a change in feel. I believe dinners will be a little more formal and dressy (though I think we had a dressy crowd for our four day). I'm expecting a little more laid back.

But I'm expecting the ship to feel very similar

From pictures, our whole family prefers the Wondor decor.

The Magic's decor is Art Deco and the Wonder's is Art Nouveau....they really do feel very similiar....I love them both but the Magic has more sentiment attached to it since we were on her Maiden Voyage and sailed on her more than the Wonder.

Thanks for the replies, everyone :) I was just wondering if I'll feel like I'm "back" even though I've never been on the Wonder before, or if it'd feel like a whole new ship. I get the sense that they both have a similar feel to it, which is a good thing, in my opinion :goodvibes

The "feel" of the ships are identical.

The only thing I noticed was the difference in the decor - I prefer the art deco style myself.

The only place that I really felt the difference was topsiders/BBB. I didn't like the style of BBB and hearing "beach" music at 7:30am was a turn off. Its not like I dislike the Beach Boys but not at breakfast time.

One other thing....I found the CMs on the Wonder were really grateful when you took the time to say a quick hello/chat. I think with the shorter cruises that people don't have enough time to stop to speak with the CMs they pass by.

I love them both! You will definitely feel like you are "back". The Magic is only better because you know you are on there longer and the ports are better.

I think they feel the same -- but like I'm really on a ship! It's part of what keeps me coming back to DCL. On our one non-DCL cruise I felt like we were in a nice, large hotel that could have been anywhere in the world! No personality!

noth the same, I just like the magic more because of the decor and longer cruises, unles I was going to go on a back to back on the wonder and that would be good too

We've cruised twice on the Wonder and once on the Magic and we felt a nice, comfortable sense of familiarity when we boarded the "other" ship. It was fun to know that we were on a completely different ship, but still knew exactly where everything was located! :) Have a GREAT time!

I've been on the Magic 2x and the Wonder once and I thought they really felt the same.

What I was really shocked about is that I went on the Magic in 1998 and again in 2003 and how it looked exactly as clean and new! I really thought it would feel more "worn" but it wasn't at all.

Funny you mention cleanliness. I've done 2 on the Magic and 5 one the Wonder. We leave in 3 weeks on a 4 day Wonder. I felt the last time that the Magic was cleaner than the Wonder. Not terrible mind you but just in little things. The one big exception was the glass chandelier in the lobby. It was very dusty. Not so obvious in the lobby but when going up in the elevators it was plain to see. Since we're on the Wonder right after dry dock I'll be checking it out. But I'll take that dust just to be back on board!!!!! :thumbsup2

Me too!!!
I found that a number of CMs that were very busy as I went by, just light up when I look them in the eye and say hello. Almost like they were pleasantly surprised by the attention :thumbsup2

Great question! :thumbsup2 I was wondering this too. We are going on our first 4-night cruise in May and 6 months later on a 7-night, so I was wondering if there was a difference. I'm very happy that I'll get to have an experience on the Wonder and the Magic. I wanted to make sure and go on both!!
