Do the restaurants take Disney gift cards?

By the way, can you use the Disney Gift Card at the Epcot food Kiosks? I know they have a special food and wine one (but you need to put $200 on it).....but that's not the one I want.

You should be able to. I used my Disney Visa rewards gift card at F&W last year.

I was gifted a couple of Disney gift cards for my birthday and I wondered if I could use them to pay for lunch or dinners in the Disney restaurants. Thanks in advance!
At almost all the restaurants you'll be able to use GCs, except the restaurants in the Swan and Dolphin and SOG which do not accept Disney GCs.

Yes. The $200 GC is a special one and is different from the regular gift card that is offered during F&W. The regular one has a F&W design and a stretchy wristband so you can wear it around your wrist. It only requires the same minimum amount as any of the other gift cards ($25 I think.) You can also use any of the Disney gift cards that are accepted at the stores and restaurants throughout DW.

This will be my first time using gift cards for Disney World, I normally buy/use them when we do a Disney Cruise and I can go to Guest Services first thing and just load them on my ship board account instead of waiting until the last day then paying everything off. Can I do the same thing for Disney World? When we first arrive can I go and apply them to my room account? Thanks!
You cannot put gift cards on your room account in advance. There is a charging limit based on the level of your resort ($1,500 at Values and Mods, $2,000 at Deluxes) so if you want to use GCs you need to go to the front desk and pay it off before you reach the limit. If you charge a lot at the beginning of your stay, they will run the credit card before you reach the limit (e.g. $2,000 limit, but you charge $1,500 in the first two or three days) so you might want to stop by the front desk every few days to use the GCs in any case. Once in a while someone will post that they were able to add GCs to their room account when they arrive, but this is not typical so it is best not to count on it.

As mentioned, no, you cannot use gift cards to establish a credit balance at Disney resorts (not saying it hasn't happened, but it shouldn't). I've had it explained to me by 3 different Resort Managers at 3 separate Resorts - always the identical explanation: Disney's policy, and compliance with standard accounting practices requires that in the event Disney needs to give you a refund, that refund MUST be returned to the exact form of payment from whence it came. With gift cards, while they can certainly put the funds back on the original card, they cannot guarantee that said card is in the customers possession or that it even physically exists any longer. Meaning the customer would not have access to that refund, which would be awful for the guest and a violation of standards. (I'm pretty sure that the Sarbanes-Oxley statute comes into play here somewhere, so also a violation of Federal law.)

Consequently, they just don't do it.

The fact that you can do it on a Disney cruise ship makes me more convinced that S-OX is involved: the cruise ships sail under the Bahamian flag and are, therefore, not subject to US law. So Disney can give you a refund in cash or to a separate gift card if they choose, and there's no problem.

So what is the member price at sams for the gift cards. Do they beat (or match) the target 5% off?? I have Costco membership so I would have to figure in the cost of sams membership to the cost of gift cards also.
