Do the resorts usually "fill up" like this???

I called to try to change my mom's room only at the POFQ to a package (since we are stuck paying rack rate might as well get the dining deal). Well, we can't do it because there are no rooms available for those dates (may 6-11). I am a little concerned now that the resort is booked every single room???? Is it really going to be that crowded? Does anyone know if other resorts are this booked?? They did offer me CBR, but we are both staying there and I already have my POFQ package.

I will not take the chance of cancelling the room only and then seeing if the CM can book the package, my poor parents might end up with nothing.

We not sure but POFQ is rather small, the smallest of the mods so that might have something to do with it.

Also the big 50th celebration starts the day before so that might have something to do with it too. We will be there April 29th to May 3rd, but head over to Vero Beach for the rest of the week.

I think that week will be a busy week, since it's the begining of the 50th Anniversary of Disneyland and is being celebrated at the World too. It was expected to be a big celebration...which is why we are going later in the month! I'm surprised they can't just change your mom's room into a package, since you aren't getting a discount.

Yeah, that sounds strange to me as well! I'd try calling to get another cast member's opinion - I mean, it's not like they'd be *losing* money, adding it on!

Our Yorkie, Teddy Bear, is experiencing the same confusion and frustration as Bugsy. Using dogs in the commercials and not allowing them in the parks is just wrong in his book.

Even if POFQ is full, I don't think you will feel over run with people there, however, I think the whold place (WDW) will be an absolute zoo with the 50th celeb. and all. Maybe you can chage your vacation to another time???


If you were at a hotel with a lobby and restaurants, I think you would feel it alot more. We were at WL when it was full, and I hated it. You had to wait for everything. The pool was horribly crowded, that is until someone had an "accident" in the pool and they had to close it.............., You just couldn't escape the crush of people. We ventured over to the POLY and there were so many people in the lobby(all levels), you couldn't move. The monorail line was unbelievable. The GF was the same way.

That said, POFQ was very quiet. We never really saw too many people. Actually, the food court looked a little desserted. I wouldn't eat there because the food looked like it had been under the heat lamps for 4 hours. The only problem we had there was waiting for the boats to DTD. They didn't come as often as they should have, and they wouldn't let you on at certain times. It was a little annoying.
I would call and talk to another CM about the package. It seems like they would be happy for you to spend more money!!

We were there at Christmas and Christmas eve last year. Christmas day seemed to be packed at the food court, but you didn't really seem to notice it elsewhere. Even with it being busy, the bus service was good for the most part. Sometimes they messed up and you you see two buses in a row to Epcot when you really wanted MK buses and vice versa. We wanted to stay there in October and already there are no AAA rate rooms left for only POFQ for the moderates. We're hoping that AP rates will give us better luck or we'll have to stay elsewhere

Is anything open at POR. it wouldn't be hard to coordinate between the two resorts since they are connected by boat and buses. If you asked to be in Bldg #7 and she was in the closest Magnolia bend bldg then you wouldn't be that far away from each other either.

As long as the dates are the same you shouldn't have to cancel anything - just convert the room only reservation to a package. Not sure why they wouldn't do that for you. I've done it, just this past January (in fact, AAA did it for me to my existing room only reservation booked through the CRO).

Also little known is the fact that -even in the 5 day cancellation window - you never really have to cancel anything unless you're truly never going on your trip. I was told by the CRO that as late as the morning of check in you can call and "change" your reservation to a later date without penalty. Now I've never actually done it but that's what I was told. (This became an issue for us when our dog became sick a few days before our trip and we weren't sure we were going to be able to go).

If you're an AAA member you might want to see what it would cost for them to convert your mother's room only reservation to a package including tix and dining. You will get the AAA discount on the entire package but make sure you ask for a specialist in Disney travel and make sure you ask for the special AAA rate. (I know it seems silly to have to ask but a lot of people earlier this year, including myself, weren't getting the discount when the MYW packages were still new and there were kinks in the system; don't know if that's changed but make sure you ask anyway).

If you don't have AAA, the money you save on the package might be worth the cost of a basic membership, however if not you should still be able to convert your room only to a package through the CRO. Keep calling until you get someone who knows how (apparently there are a lot of new people working at the CRO).

I think that it's up to the discretion of who you talk to... when my grandfather was very sick a few year ago, I called about arriving at a later date and was never told that. I was told that I may still lose my first night's deposit.

I always thought you could book a room at "rack" & then add on a package if a code/pin came along. I am just confused as to why they would have you loose your room just because you added a package??

Has something changed ar CRO? I have a room only right now for Oct & plan to add on dining & tickets later. Do they now cancel your whole reservation & start all over again as though you never made the first reservation?

A reservation agent might not be able to get a room converted to a package but guest services can, as long as it is at least 48 hours prior to arrival.

Well, we are staying June 17th through June 24th and my in-laws are going to be joining us on June 19th. They changed their minds and wanted to arrive the same day as we were. They called to add the two nights onto their ressies and were told nothing was available....so I guess they will have to stick with coming in on the 19th!!! Oh well!!

I am hoping the parks are not going to be overly crowded!!!! But hey, at least I am there, right!!!

I would call back, as I was told I could change my "room only" reservation to a package as late as at checkin. I was thinking of changing to MYW with dining option when I booked and CM told me I could just pay the difference at check in if I wanted.

So call back and ask another CM maybe the one you spoke with misheard you or is misinformed.

I was told by numerous sources (dreams unlimited, other disney boards, etc.) that I would indeed have to cancel my room only reservation and book a package separately, that they are two different things entirely. When I called to do it for my reservation that is what they did (of course they book the new before cancelling the old) but I had no troubles since my room/dates were still available (we are staying longer than my parents).

I will try calling again tomorrow just to see if I can get someone to do it. Any ideas how I can get someone from guest relations instead of reservations as AirJoe mentioned???
