Do the points have to be in my account before I can rent them out?

Hi all. We are planning on doing the Disney Cruise in June, 2006. We would like to rent out some of our points to offset the cost of the cruise (vs. using points for the cruise). Our UY is June. We would want to rent out the remaining points from our 2005 June allotment, but also wanted to rent out most (if not all) of our June, 2006 points.

Do I have to wait until this June to actually receive our 2005 allotment before I can rent them out? Same thing for next year (June, 2006)? If so, the 2006 points will not help us as that is the same month we want to cruise in.

If they have to be in our account, what about borrowing? Could we borrow our 2006 points into our 2005 UY. And this June, 2005 rent them all out? Can I borrow them now and rent them now for renters who will be making trips after June, 2005?

I think I'm confusing myself now. I hope I haven't confused you all.

You can make a reservation for someone using your June 2005 points and the borrowed points so yes you can rent those points out. The reservation just needs to be for the period between June 1, 2005 and May 31, 2006 for the borrowed points. You can make a reservation now up through the beginning of January 2006.

Thanks for that information. That is definately one route we can take. How about if we just wanted to rent out points out to another DVCer and transfer them into their account? Can I borrow 2006 into 2005 and then in June 2005 make the transfer? Can borrowed points be transferred? Do I have to wait until June when the points are actually in my account?

Borrowed or banked points can not be transferred so you couldn't borrow them and then transfer them. You can only borrow points to make a reservation.

It sounds like you best bet is to rent them and make a reservation for someone.
