do the parks have tiny toilets?

Kind of an odd question I was wondering if the park restrooms have tiny toilets. My 5 year old is absolutely terrified of the big public toilets. I want to be prepared to avoid any embarrassing scenes. If they are far and few between, I might have to bring a folding potty seat to keep in the backpack.

I read that there is one in the baby center, but that's just one location right?

I could have sworn on our last visit that there was a height limit to use the little potties. It may have been my imagination, but I remembering being surprised by it. I'm sure someone here knows better than me, but I didn't want you to be surprised just in case I didn't imagine it.

Otherwise, tote along the potty chair and stick a post-it on the automatic flushing apparatus. Sorry your little one gets scared, those things have startled me quite a few times too.

(ETA: Yes, there is one baby care center in each park. I love them!)

No, All American, you're NOT imagining things... There is a sign posted outside the mini-potty stalls stating that they're reserved for guests under 42". Technically my very tall 4 yr old is too tall to use them but the very nice ladies staffing the Baby Care Center always allow us to go right on in, no prob.

And I really do think that the Main St. Baby Care Center is the only location in the park with the tiny potties.

Without even clicking, I'm guessing that's Despicable Me's "curse you tiny toilet!"?

Thanks for the info everyone. My dd is 44", so unless they check heights like they do for the rides to use the little potty, she might be able to get away with it lol But, since its just one location, and she has a bladder the size of a walnut, I think I'll have to just pack the little folding seat.

The post-it thing works though? While its not the reason she freaks out to begin with (she's terrified of falling in), it certainly doesn't help the situation. I may try that.

On our trip my DD, who was not quite 3, was pretty scared of the toilets at DLR. As bizarro as it sounds, I found that if I sat my DD sideways (facing the side of the stall instead of the front), she was more comfortable. It seemed to be the gap at the front of the seat that freaked her out.

And she still asks me "Does this potty flush itself?" every time we use a public restroom. So, don't forget the postit notes like I did!

How tiny are we talkin' about anyway? Mini Huna men tiny? Little person tiny? Or toieties that are so tiny that only a skinny bum would fit? Or a tiny toiety that looks like a miniature but actually flushes? Or none of the above? I personally don't like tiny toieties because they are not so much user friendly..............

we did the sideways sitting too, and also put a map or a post-it note on the auto flusher. With the boys it was a bit easier though, because we only had to do the sit down every 1 out of 6 trips.

I think packing a foldable seat would be your safest bet...you surely don't want to have any accidents if they can be prevented.

Post-its were a must-have when my girls were little and we couldn't go anywhere without the folding toilet seat...and lots wipes.

On some toilets, you can drape a piece of TP across the sensor of the flusher. My 11 year olds still use that trick.

Don't forget to take the paper off the sensor so it will flush.

BTW, don't stay @ DLH then since they have the turbo flush potties. Those suckers even scare me.

Must be hit or miss. We met some extremely nice staff there (especially when I used to come with babies for nursing) but also some slightly grumpy ladies (maybe that's where some of the other nannies that Mary Poppins beat out of the job in the movie landed after being blown out of London...).

My son used the tiny toilet when he was maybe 4, and it was too tiny for him. He wasn't an early-stand-to-pee kinda guy, and the toilet was just itsy. He was uncomfortable.

We've been very fortunate in that he didn't get freaked out by auto-flushers, but we never really had them go off unexpectedly, since having a parent standing there blocking the sensor seemed to work to keep them from going off. It seems that if you bend and get out of the sensor's way, that's when they flushed surprisingly, for us anyway.

Did this with both my girls, and it worked for them. My son has no potty fears at all, doesn't even care when they flush while he's sitting on it, although I hate it!!!
