Do the Mickey shaped waffles contain eggs?

We are thinking of staying for one night onsite and when I look at most of the menu options for breakfast, Mickey Waffles are almost always offered. DS loves waffles but is allergic to eggs (peanuts and fish as well)...wondering how would I find out prior to our stay if those Mickey waffles contain eggs? Just trying to plan ahead.

There's no warning needed- this is a very standard item. The recipes can be different and I'm not sure if the regular waffle has egg as DS has so many allergens I don't care. If you need the allergy waffles there are a couple random exceptions but generally if you are at a hotel they will have a mickey shaped allergy waffle. If you are in the park, table service will have Van's waffles. The only issue is if you have an "avoid potential cross contamination with tree nuts" rule for your peanut allergy, in which case you specifically want the namaste waffle mix and should avoid the bob's red mill one. BRM does NOT have any cross contamination risk for peanut, egg or fish.

If you want to know what specific things are available at specific places I would email special diets and ask for the egg allergy, peanut allergy and fish allergy sheets. You will need to cross reference the three to be sure. If it's at a TS I would always not it on the ADR.

The allergy Mickey waffles are available at most resort restaurants and are delicious. They are smaller then the big plate sized Mickey ones, but still very cute. If you let us know where you're staying I bet people can confirm for you that they can be had there.

The allergy ones are everywhere, but it still doesn't answer the question about the regular ones- so I guess maybe the end answer is yes. They are there but nobody seems to know if you want the regular or allergy waffles.

The regular ones have egg. You can get the allergy free ones anywhere (counter and table service) The allergy free pancakes are really good too!

So glad I saw this post. I will be needing to contact the special diet department for our trip.

You can contact them at any time but before a couple months out they always tell me to contact them closer. To get the best information you want to be within a few weeks incase something changes. It may depend what you need though as it can take a couple weeks to get information. I will be honest with you, out of somewhere around 100 table service reservations I have notified them about over the years with a list of a dozen allergies I have had exactly two chefs respond to me. Both of them said they would be prepared, one volunteered a safe brownies. At both locations we showed up and they acted like we blind sided them because they had nothing ready. I told my son they were making brownies for him and that chef had no idea what we were talking about- so the only single location he would have had a baked good then didn't have it.

The point is that they try and special diets can be interesting to contact but I get much better and more useful information just asking online and being prepared. Disney won't answer most questions directly for fear that they will answer wrong or a product will change and then somebody relies on that info and gets angry or hurt. The best thing they give out are those allergy product lists, but they update the pdf once or twice a year and it's not a list of everything they stock. It is a list of exactly what was ordered on the last order. That means if they had a product in stock it's not listed so it doesn't include their stock or any of the "regular" items which is essentially the list of ingredients they have to work with. It won't tell you what type of hot dog, what fries, what sausage, bread, etc. it will only tell you that IF the regular doesn't work they will offer you X brand. So even in the best case scenario you are only getting half the information if you are lucky.

I think that contacting them when dealing with multiple allergies gives you an idea of what the options are that may/may not work for your family. I didn't want to make ADR's and show up and have them have nothing for my kid to eat so it helped guide where we would even go. And I also never count on them having all the things listed so while planning is paramount there is a need to be flexible within the limits of your given allergy set. I also never tell the kids they are getting "xyz" because of the possibility of there being changes.

ok! my son has multiple allergies and we are used to eating out and making it work for him. i can usually find substitutes for him and i plan on having him allergy tested again a month or so before we go just to confirm if there is anything newer any of the other allergies that we no longer have to worry about. if I'm literally flying across the country i want to make sure his allergies are as up to date as possible :)

In case I sounded crazy or demanding, the only reason I told my son he was getting brownies was that the chef directly called me specifically to tell me he was making my son brownies. Then we arrived and not only no brownies, they acted like they had no idea of his allergies. At this point they were listed on the reservation, I had sent the form in and I had spoken to the chef. It would have been the first and only time any location had done something special for him and we have notified them of every place we plan to go for every trip.

I agree that contacting them can be useful for planning it out, I just don't want people to get their hopes up too much about contacting special diets because most of the information we've ever gotten from them has been out of date or completely incorrect. Seeing threads of amazing pictures of food always makes me feel like if I write them maybe they will make my son something special, but as close as we ever got to that was being promised brownies that weren't there. :(

:( I'm sorry that happened. I can imagine it was frustrating for him and you. I know it's not a fun situation to be in (and I know the awesome pictures you see and yet don't get when you are there!)
