Do the Disney Resorts do anything "special" for special occassions?

I am leaving for WDW on Sunday and will be asking my girl to marry me. We are staying at the OKW Resort for the first time. Will the CM's do anything special if I mention the engagement? Should I inform them before I check in?

You can mention it on your reservation and when you check-in. The CMs may or may not do anything special. My DW and I celebrated our 25th anniversary there in May. We mentioned it on our reservation and PS; sometimes we had "magic" and other times it was just normal ol' Disney (which is still magical nonetheless).

I would caution against expecting anything and then you'll be pleasantly surprised if something does happen!

At least some of the resorts do. We were at the GF last month for our tenth anniversary. We mentioned it while making reservations (our 2 kids were in the computer from the last trip, and I mentioned our anniversary to the CR person to explain why they weren't coming this time). It appeared as a note on our confirmation, and on the 3rd day, we had a 1/2 bottle of champagne delivered to our room. The next evening while in the pool, I saw a lot of bottles being delivered. I don't know if this is a GF or a deluxe thing.

Depends on the resort. Last time we were at AKL-Conc, mentioned that it was both DH and my birthday, I got a very nice card, and a wooden giraffe as a gift. I didn't expect that.

On my honeymoon, we got free champagne, and sometimes free dessert. But not everytime.

You should mention to CM at checkin, or call reservations to let them know ahead of time. And if you have plans to ask her during dinner, make sure the restaurant know also.
