I have been reading other posts and they mention the characters taking time to "speak" to the kids. Are IOA and US characters different from those at Disney? They can only "pretend" to speak with hand motions at Disney.

Just thought I would ask. Thanks!

Some do and some dont. The face characters talk and the ones with masks usually cant but even then some do! My favorite was with the Grinch that shows up around the holidays...he is incredible and falls into character perfectly. He told my son "hey you're grinchier than me"! Scooby doesnt talk but Shaggy does. Woody doesnt talk. Once we saw a Shrek that talked and once he didnt. The superheros all talk and they are excellent!

I remember she used to be a costumed character, but now she is a face character. At first I didn't think we would like her, but she was really into character and talked just like her. We loved it!!!!

Spiderman can talk, so can Captain America, Wolverine and Storm.

Characters like Jimmy Neutron, The Rug Rats and Shrek use motions to speak.

I believe that they basically work the same way as Disney.

I might get to be a Universal character. I auditioned and was called back for a fitting. :) I've been approved as Woody Woodpecker, Popeye, Chuckie from Rugrats, and Sam I am. It'll take them another week to decide what the offers will be.

just curious...........what did the audition consist of? Do you have to have any kind of experience? Good luck!!

:) Well, actually, I had gone into a general Universal audition for their shows and stuff, and they asked me if I was interested in doing an animated street character. I just did a comic monologue. I don't think any experience is neccessary- a lot of it is based on hieght. I'm 5' 3 1/2" and can fit into the shorter character costumes. I've never done any of this sort of thing before. I was also hired for Halloween Horror Nights.
