to go to the parks. thinking of staying in a downtown area resort and walking to downtown disney but the buses don't start until 8:30am.

is this true - thanks?

also do the downtown disney buses go to the ticket and transportation center?

It's not very efficient to try and access the parks via the DTD buses. No, the buses don't start running until there is a reason to run...shops don't open, so no need for guests to be there much before 9. There are no buses running between DTD and TTC either.
The Disney buses, at DTD, weren't put into play in order to get DTD resort guests to parks. Those resorts should have their own shuttles. I would use one of those...much easier.
The buses running back to the resorts isn't all that reliable until late morning.

You should be able to hop on a bus to somewhere at DTD Marketplace by 8 a.m., but no guarantee as to where. It might be PO, OKW, or Pop Century.

Just grab the first bus that comes along, and transfer at whatever resort you wind up at.

Actually they don't routinely start back to the resorts until later. So the bus could go from a resort to DTD and then be sent to MK to do transport (and no they won't take you with them on the reposition route). The theory is that you need to shop for a little while before you will need to go back to the resort

The DTD buses only go to resorts no parks and actually very few buses go to the TTC anymore.

Since people may want to park there for free, Disney makes it difficult to get to a park from DTD.

And like others said since DTD opens later there is no reason to pick anyone up there that early.

Also I think DTD hotels have their own dedicated buses to the parks.

A few buses are "floated" to another hub to help out at that park, but the majority of buses leaving the Marketplace in the a.m. are headed to a nearby resort to pick up for either DTD or a park, and most drivers are happy to take guests wherever the bus is going.

They do, and the buses run on a schedule (none of this 'about every twenty minutes' baloney ;)) and at least when I stayed on HPB, you needed a resort ID to prove you were authorized to use those buses.

I got stuck at DTD our last vaca due to needing a last minute gift. I headed there for opening ran to the store and got what I needed and then headed to the bus stop. I sat for about a 30-45 min with absolutely no buses picking up. Finally a bus coordinator noticed me and I told him I needed to get back to my resort as the ME bus was coming and he dispatched a bus to take me back. He did inform me ,however, that the buses back to the resorts don't start running until a later in the morning.
So point being I wouldn't expect to be able to get anywhere fast from DTD in the morning.
