Since they aren't operated by Disney, do the Swan and Dolphin have AP rates? If so, are the usually in the same league (discount) as the other Deluxe resorts?

Thanks,

Doug

No they do not. Just today I asked that very question to the W-Disney reservation hotline. I was told no because they are not owned by disney.

However, you can get great rate reductions by using AAA, AARP, or nurse, teacher, military.

I just returned from the Dolphin with an AP rate of $162.50 -- call the Swan/Dolphin directly and inquire as to your dates. They are usually 50% rack rates.

Good luck!

Yes, they do. You can see if they are availble by following the Swan/Dolphin links on the DIS home page (www.wdwinfo.com)

Great! Thanks for the info. Do they announce their rates at the same time that Disney does, or might they have AP rates available now for December or January?

Doug

Go to dreamsunlimitedtravel.com and go to the Swan/Dolphin matrix (they both have different avail. so try both. Put in your days, then your rate level (AP rate) and see what comes up. They most definitely have an AP rate!

Thanks to everyone for your help! I do (of course) have one final question... Do you think they will offer better AP rates when Disney announces theirs? Right now, the AP rate is the same as the AAA rate, which is only about $5 less a night than the Expedia rate.

Thanks again!

Doug

Yes, the Swan and Dolphin have AP rates. We got a rate of $147.50 per night. ::MickeyMo

But with the AP rate you get a category upgrade and a 2pm late checkout. We are paying $147.50 which is 50% off of a standard view rack rate but we are booked in a lake view room with a 2pm late checkout. So it is much better then the AAA rate. At least for when we are traveling 09/11 through 09/19/2004.

Be careful about the late check-out. when we were there last 12/27-1/02/04 the day before our check-out they called and left a message that there would be NO late check-out for anyone because of the capacity turnover that day. Just to let you know it is not a guarantee.

Doug,

It is alway possible that the S-D will release more discount rates for December & January. But, I doubt that it will be related to the date Disney posts AP rates for that time period. The S-D already has discount rates available for some dates in December. (of course not the dates that we'd like to stay at the resort  ) The "AP" rates seem to be very similar to the nurse/teacher/gov't worker rates.

Here's where you'll find the current availability list of the nurse/teacher/gov't worker discount rates: http://www.wdwinfo.com/Wdwinfo/resorts/SwanDolphin/closeout.htm#swan

I'd just keeping checking throught DreamRes page and see what comes up.

We've already made plans to stay at the Celebration Hotel for our early December dates, because I don't think any more discount rates will be released for early December.
Good luck!
