have nothing better to do than start threads picking apart other people's parenting just to make themselves feel better and look good???? It's really getting old reading all these holier than thou threads. :sad2:

Yup! :thumbsup2

I agree with you 100%.

I's *loooooove* to be a fly on the wall in some of these *poi'fect* households. :teeth:

I don't know about that but I do know I was reading a thread yesterday and a poster listed some thing that were pure white trash and as I was reading it I thought HOLY COW, they are talking about MY family, I'm just sure of it!! So THAT'S why I feel ignored a lot....I'm white trash!!! :lmao:

I think with every message board you have to take what's said with a grain of salt. There are always going to be people who feel they are better at everything and their kids are perfect. It can also be a great place to make some pretty cool friends. Even if you are white trash, like me ;)

I tend to ignore the parenting threads (because there's never any good to come out of them :rotfl: ), but sometimes I see the same sort of thing in those threads that I see in a lot of other threads, too: People asking for ratification of bad decisions they've already made, or rationalization of bad conduct they already have decided to practice.

Anyway, we really need to also wonder about the folks who subject their parenting skills to scrutiny on an online forum. Some questions are best left unasked; some topics are best left undiscussed.

Very often with many of the posts, it's not what is said, but how it's said that's so offensive. Also, some posters are looking for trouble and go out of their way to make trouble and others go out of their way to look for trouble. If we take a minute to think about how our posts will come across to others it will be a lot more pleasant of a place. Hmmm, did that make any sense? Will it offend? Let me reread it... :rotfl: :teeth:

I tend to read the ones for parenting advice because I have an education degree with minors that allow me to teach birth through grade 12, although I prefer the "5 and under" crowd. I've also taken parent and child courses that have dealt with the usual- potty training, biting, etc. I also taught in a childcare center with a preschool for 6 years and was the director for 2 years. Plus, I'm a mother. I feel qualified to give advice when the OP asks for it. Unfortunately they often don't want to hear what any of us have to say.
I do have a problem with people who don't have kids telling posters that they do a rotten job of parenting and if "I had kids it'd be different. :snooty: " Yeah, come back after you've had a couple.
I also have a problem with parents that are incredibly clueless. They post some of the stuff their kids have done and then say "But that's normal kid stuff." Uh, no. That's a kid that needs supervision.

I tend to read the parenting threads, mostly because I'm looking for advice and tips. However, once they take the ugly turn for the worst I just let it go. :teeth:

I can certainly figure out what NOT to do from these boards. ;)

Y'know what they say: Everything constructive to be said in a thread has generally been said within the first three or four pages. Generally, when a thread hits page four I unsubscribe.
