Do Sofas Open To Beds?

Are all the sofas in the staterooms sofa beds? I ask because on our 3/2 Wonder cruise in cat. 5 (for 3 people), I was surprised to find that the bed for our daughter was actually a pull down bed (bunk bed) from the ceiling. I was just surprised as it looked as if the sofa would be a sofa bed.

I never asked our attendant as we saw him only once, but now I"m curious...could the sofa actually had been a sofa bed and for whatever reason the attendant made up the ceiling bed each night instead? (Room 7546)

Yes, the sofa can also be used as a single bed. It does not fold out but is made up as a bed at turndown service. Your cabin steward probably thought your child (presuming daughter is a child) would like sleeping in the pull down bed. We have 2 boys, so our cabin steward made up the pull down bed and the sofa bed. When both are used, it looks like a bunk bed.

Yes, definitely! The couch actually sort of flips over and becomes a single bed. How odd that the attendant put down the top bunk when there were only three of you in the room. Maybe he thought your daughter would enjoy the bunk instead?

As far as I know the sofas all make beds. Some make a twin and others make a double. Maybe your stateroom host thought your daughter would enjoy the sky bed more.

I am amazed at how little we see the stateroom hosts and yet they always have the rooms made up appropriately!! Any questions can be answered by calling HOUSEKEEPING or GUEST SERVICES.

Do some of the sofa really make into a double bed. We have never seen that only singles. On our past 2 cruises our host has pulled the ceiling bed down for our DD. She loves it.

We looked into a room while walking down a hall once and saw that the sofa had been made into a double bed and instead of the king bed it was separated into two twin beds with the two bedside tables between them on the end wall. We figured that the kids each had a separate twin bed and the parents slept on the sofa bed.

The only people we knew who ever slept on the sofa bed did it one night while we were cutting through the Gulf Stream going from Castaway Cay to Port Canaveral. They did not sleep well during that time on the big bed, but the sofa was at right angles to the bed and that was more comfortable for them. They said they slept really well on the sofa bed.

Our bed was the same direction as their bed and we were fine. People have different comfort levels.

The SOFA cannot be more than a twin bed, but the MAIN bed can be split into twins or configured as a queen/king.

In the SUITES they do have sofas that pull out into double beds, but not in the regular staterooms. :)

thanks!

That's so funny. I'll know for January then. (Of course, dd will want to sleep high in the sky again, for sure. Mommy was just a bit nervous about it at first, but got over it quickly!) :)

WE are booked in a cat4 I was wondering too if the sofa in there converts in to a double because there will be 5 of us?????:Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

bigtime....no the 5th bed will come down from the wall like a Murphy bed and lay across the entrance to the veranda.

Thanks MJ for the quick reply!!

I think it is going to be a little snug in there. But were only there to sleep!!!

Have you stayed it one of these rooms?? Any input would be appreciated

Dee

Yes, we have stayed in a Cat 4 with 5 people (3 teens) on 3 different times. We found it fine for all of us and my son was 5'9" at the time.

We now get 2 Cat 9's because hubby and I like our privacy and teens would rather have their own room.

We have stayed in Cat 4's forward and midship. Both locations were fine and we really enjoyed the veranda. The only drawback was having to climb over the murphy bed when it was down to get to the veranda. During the day it was fine.

I think you will like the Cat 4. We found it to have plenty of storage space.

MJ thanks

My 3 are 9,11,and12 so we should be just fine!! Although a great suggestion on the 2 Cat 9's

We figured since there is so much deck space all over the ship, we would rather have the two cabins which actually costs about the same, but we now have more space and two bathrooms!!!

Another benefit is we found we really like the location of Decks 1 and 2 (have been on both). It is so convenient getting on and off the ship while in the various ports. While everyone is waiting for the elevators, we just walk down the hall on Deck 1 or climb one set of stairs if we are on Deck 2. The elevators can get very busy when everyone starts coming back from their day on shore!! It is also very close to the restaurants, shows, gift shops, guest service, shore excursion desk, etc.

The sofa is still a twin size. You have the two twins/queen, the sofa, the bunk bed which pulls down from the ceiling and the murphy type bed that pulls down from the wall.

I am befuddled. I was sure I saw the sofa bed made up as a double bed. But if all the staterooms have sofas that only make up as a twin, I have been telling people the wrong thing. Thanks for the correction. I will change the story.
