This may sound like a silly question but I really don't know. Some friends just had a baby and I was going to make chili for them to just heat up and eat during the week. It occurred to me that they may not eat chilli. Does it vary from region to region? Thanks for any insight.

It's Hindus that do not eat beef, and I'm not sure about that ethnic group's relgion. You may want to keep in mind that a lot of Indians are vegetarians. Have you ever seen them eat meat?

Thanks for the info! I've been trying to remember what meals we've all had together. We've eaten together probably 5 or 6 times, but it has always been buffet style so he always had the ability of choosing what he ate. I never paid attention to the food on his plate. I've already made the chili and would feel silly bringing it over if he didn't eat it. Hmmm. Thanks for your help!

CJK,
My friends that are Sikh eat chicken, but refrain from eating eating beef, veal, lamb or pork.

As someone else mentioned, they do eat a great deal of vegetarian meals.

My neighbours are Sikhs and they tend to eat only vegetarian meals but have chicken now and again.

Thanks everyone. I think I'm going to leave the chilli here and eat it another day. Thanks so much.

Many Indians living in the states do eat beef, but if you don't know I think that you are making the best decision.
