Do rooms released to CRO ever get pulled back?

I was checking on a one-night reservation for Oct. 6 today. I had a 1-night reservation at the All-Stars because we are arriving a day earlier than originally expected. I've only been checking on this night for a few days because I just recently realized I didn't want the hassle of taking a bus to MGM and walking to the BWV to check in the next morning.

Anyway, I asked for a studio at either BWV or BCV and the CM said there was one at BCV. I was just about to book it when she asked me to wait a minute - that she was going to see if she could get the BWV since my next reservation is there. I was on hold for a minute or two and she came back and said she had a pref. view studio at BWV. I thought that was a bit strange, but I was very happy to hear it. So, why the "on hold" time? If there was availability, wouldn't it have just showed up? I'm wondering if she was checking to see if she could put the room from CRO or something...that's my only guess. I was VERY happy this happened because I'm so close to the 7 day cancellation deadline for the All-Stars.

What she was doing was calling over to the resort to check availability and to verify that they could swap the room from cash to points.... I've found when you are just a short time out from your reservation, they can accomodate you in this way...

at 60 days before you arrival - all the unused villa go to CRO.

now one that was cash before this time is still cash. But this unit was probably points that because it was less than 60 days out was send to cash.

does this make sense?

the reason it takes longer is they must call CRO to verify that the unit that they have showing is still available. CRO could have rented it - but it would still show up available on the DVC system.

Thanks. That explains it. I thought that was the case. I'm wondering if they would do something like that to fulfill a waitlist night I have. I've been checking back with no luck all week. I think they're probably tired of me by now. Some of the CM's say "you have a waitlist on that" when I ask about it - kind of sounding like they're annoyed I'm calling about it, too. :( But then other CM's have told me that you don't always hear right away when a waitlist comes through. I have just 2 more days to cancel another value resort reservation for my relatives if this comes through.
