Do rides closed for rehab ever open up earlier than expected?

Big Thunder Mountain Railroad is scheduled to be closed 8/8 - 11/19... our last day at MK is 11/13. Just wondering if anyone thinks there is a chance this might be done early?

Rehabs are strange things, hey can be lengthened and shortened. The dates can be advanced and set later. Finally it just as possible they could be cancelled.

Sorry I know this doesn't really help, but you do have a chance of the rehab changing enough one way or the other, so you will be OK!.

Have a great vacation!

Yes.
(Or not.)

I suspect it'll be easy to tell when they might be soft opening this one as the refurb (original dates) said it was to redo the exit. it couldn't be disney if your ride didn't end in a gift shop.

Real bad choice to close for Thanksgiving week. So I suspect it will be on time or open sooner.

It opened a couple days early the last time it was down for refurb. I was about to get into bed when somebody from our group called my cell and said.
BIG THUNDER MOUNTAIN'S RUNNING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
My wife and I threw our clothes on and raced back to MK and got to ride. Highlight of that trip.

This is why you always buy the hopper....... grasshopper.

I'm really upset about this if it goes according to schedule because it'll definitely be closed when I'm there. They couldn't shut it down in the winter season instead?

This was my thoughts too. It's odd. Close it January/February and early spring! Not in the summer.....

This overlaps our trip as well near the end of the 'schedule' so I am crossing fingers it will be open a little early. As others mention these kind of things take as long as they take.

If BTMRR wasn't closed, something else would be. Something is almost always being refurbished.

Do they ever? Yes.
Will they? Who knows
We were at MK a few days before HM was due to open from it's rehab.
It did have a soft opening while we were there. It was intermittent as they tested things.
It would open for 30 min, close for a while, open again, repeat.
So while a ride may be open on a given day it may not be all day.

Except for at DL. Most of those do not exit in a gift shop (some do but they are the exception vs. the rule like at WDW)

Our last day at MK will be 11/12 and I'm hoping that there will be soft openings that day!

I've been googling this same question and some have said that early openings are more likely if it's a long refurb (and in this case it's about 4 months, so pretty long I think?). Rocking' Rollercoaster will also be closed for most of our visit, but I'm hoping we get lucky and get to ride both.

Another factor from what I've read is that Disney needs to schedule CM's in advance before being able to open the ride, so they need a few weeks notice. So they need a pretty good idea that they are ahead of schedule, a few weeks out.

I am hoping for the same thing. They announced the RnR coaster way too late as I could not change anything by that time. Really disappointed with Disney closing 2 of 4 major coasters.
