Do Restaurants Now Call You to Confirm?

We leave for Disney in the morning. I just received a call from AKL confirming my dinner reservation at Jiko this Saturday. Never had anyone call me to confirm before - is this something new? Normally I'm calling them to make sure my ressies haven't been lost.

Just curious.

I've never had any restaurant other than Victoria and Albert's call me to confirm a reservation. That seems a bit odd to me.

We had the same thing happen back in Dec 07, but we had already left for WDW when they called so I didn't know until we came home. It was from the BC for Cape May for dinner and was during Chirstmas. I figured they were just double checking since it is pretty busy that time of year.

I also thought is was odd that someone would call, but I didn't know until we got home and all of our ADR's were fine.

Wouldn't that be unbelievable!! But eating filet with macaroni & cheese and a Mickey head birthday cake for dessert will be special enough!

I think it's only Jiko, but they do call. My DH got a call from them too.

We had a dinner reservation at Jiko for last Friday and they did call us a few days before to confirm.

That's a nice touch.

Last year the manager at the Yachtsman phoned us the day after we'd eaten there, asking if we'd been happy with our meal and to call with any comments, suggestions and that they greatly appreciated our business. I remember being impressed by their level of customer service.

It must be the time of year and demand. We had an ADR at Jiko in January and they didn't confirm. It was a wonderful dinner, though.
