Do resorts do anything for birthdays?

When I made my ressies, the CM asked what we were celebrating on our trip. My son's 9th birthday is 2 days before we arrive (birthday on the 13th, we arrive the 15th) so I told the CM that. Are they going to do something special for him at check-in or in our room? I didn't request anything, but since he asked me, I was just wondering.

Our son's 9th b-day was the day we checked in. They gave him a birthday pin (which you can probably get, people often wear them for the full trip, not just the day of the celebration). On the second day we had a birthday cake "towel animal" in our room from mousekeeping. I forgot to get a picture of it, of course!

It is very hit or miss. You might get something, but don't plan on it.

They might choose to do something, they might not...it is hit or miss and definitely not guaranteed.Don't expect anything and if they do something you just got pixie dusted!

My childs birthday is on the 22nd of august. We are going on the 20th of august. To make sure, just bring them to a nice place to eat for there b-day.
We got into the castle. My baby is growing up so fast! :scared::scared:

1) Have your anniversary-birthday-honeymoon-etc noted on the ressie or on ADR's.
2) The CM's have a lot of leeway of things to do or not do for you.
3) It simply is a matter of the CM's initiative and how busy they are that day.
4) It also depends upon how much they like you as a guest.
5) Some of the things a CM can do for free are
. . . decorate table with Mickey confetti
. . . best table location
. . . special personalized menu
. . . autographed birthday cards
. . . balloons
. . . gifts for kid's baby teeth
. . . wine or champagne
. . . appetizers
. . . cake
. . . autographed placemats
. . . wine or fruit basket sent to room
. . . flowers sent to room
. . . room upgrades

NOTE: Anyone can get balloons and an autographed card in the room after check-in. Just ask at the Front Desk or Concierge Desk. Based upon availability and scheduling, they may come sooner or later, but they usually come. Also, baskets-gifts-etc cannot be delivered to the room prior to checkin in order to be in the room when the guest gets to the room.

Some of the value resorts have really cut back on this. I had several people call asking for complimentary items at the florist. I explained that the florist did not have complimentary items and that they should speak directly with the front desk of the resort. They told me the resort said they no longer did this. I called to check on it myself and was told the same thing.

Thanks for the info everyone. I'm not planning on saying anything to him about it, we'll just wait and see what happens when we get there. :)

Last year while staying at POFQ I received an autographed Birthday card from Mickey, a towel cake( in our room)

and at 3 of our ADR's bc I mentioned it was my birthday I got a free dessert . They asked me when I checked in if I was celebrating anything, and who my favourite character was.
I thought they did this for everyone!
I still have the towel cake, my daughter wanted to bring it home.

In May 2008, stayed at POP on my b-day week, no pixie dust.... but then when i stayed May 2009 b-day week at POP again, i got an autographed bday card from Mickey, and a 20% off b-day photopass card. Then somehow i scored a bed turn down service, and got little chocolates on my pillow as well on my first night!! So its really hit and miss!

my daughter the reservation cm for our dining reservations that it was my birthday and at each resturant they did something special at dinner- the character resturant gave me a signed birthday card from each character there, some resturants you got a dessert (special) and the wait staff sang happy birthday and other you just got a dessert.

Plus when we checked in you got a birthday button which I did wear all week and everyone will say happy birthday to you.

When we stayed in GF for my birthday, I got a birthday card and a platter of goodies (a chocolate white Mickey, chocolate covered Strawberries, truffles and cookies)....it was a pretty presentation and yummy treat. When we went for our anniversary in GF, an anniversary card signed by Mickey and Minnie with their photo, 2 roses and a bottle of Champagne. When we went to Swan...my son got a birthday card and balloons.

WE have been at WDW on my dd's 6th and 13th birtdays. The birthdays were noted on the resort reservations as well as at all meals. She did get a birthday cupcake at both Chef Mickey's and Crystal Palace for dessert. But other than that, nothing.
We are headed down next month...we are celebrating my 60th (about two weeks late) and my dd's 16th, but 2 months early...no way can she miss school for a birthday trip to WDW anymore.
I didn't even bother noting them. If I want something special to happen, I'll do it myself. We will both wear our birthday buttons. Being at BWV will be wonderful. I will have a special cake for our family lunch on the 16th...so glad my son and his wife are coming for the weekend.
But, other than that, not much is going to happen.

We just got back from WDW yesterday. During our visit we celebrated our 25th anniversary (June 23rd), DGS 3rd birthday (June 26), and an early DGS 10th birthday (July 14).

At check in we received an autographed photo of Mickey & Minnie with discount photopass, buttons for each of us, And even more PIXIE DUST when it came to our cabin assignment, we were given cabin 120....WOW!!!!!

On various days of our trip, we received cards, cup cakes, and streamers, and lots and lots of happy birthdays and/or happy anniversary. At our meal at the Whispering Canyon, they brought us over 2 glasses of champaign with strawberries on the glass lips, this was a very pleasent surprise (even though I don't drink) I did take a sip and thanked our waitress for the special magic.

We even came back to the cabin to find 2 little towel critters with anniversary buttons, these were adorable.

Sounds like some fun things have happened to some of you! We are staying club level and I just got the vacation planner to fill out. It does ask if you are celebrating anything, so I am going to put his birthday on there and see what happens. :)
