The whole family is staying at Saratoga & POFQ in Sep. including our 6 mo. old. We are flying and using ME. Will the resorts have baby items for sale? I am worried about infant water for formula. Will I have to get a taxi to the store? Any ideas?

That's a great question.
DH and I are taking our 8mth old in December. Can we use regular bottled water for formula? I know the park water is not good at all. If they don't sell the infant water in the stores, you could always ship some ahead of time to the resort. In Feb I had disney t-shirts mailed to Saratoga Springs, it worked out fine.
There's also a store who will deliver food to your room. They have all kinds of things just like a regular store and deliver for about $10. We did this and it helped a lot. Had milk and cerial every day with fresh fruit and bottled water.
I found the info about them on the disboards. Seems to be a trusted place. The guy who delivered our food was very nice, even put the stuff in our fridge. I will look for the link and get back to you.

Good luck and congrats on the new baby!

One more thing...
Saratoga Springs has a pretty good sized store. You might want to call them to see if they have it.

When we went and my youngest was still in diapers I would ship a package to the resort addressed to myself. The resort would hold the package for me until I arrived there. This was cost effective for us. The items that they have in the stores at resorts are higher priced.

Off topic here - but I must be getting old - what is "infant water?" I'm assuming they now sell bottled water specifically labeled to mix with baby formula. What will they think of next?!?

Thank goodness I'm not the only one wondering what "infant water" is.

The store at SSR has LIMITED baby items, and does not have "infant" water. Either your choices is to ship some to yourself ahead of time, have one of the off-site delivery services deliver it for you, or use regular bottle water.

Gee when we took our babies to WDW we filled the bottles (unsterilized of course - where would you take care of that in your resort room?) with TAP water. And they all lived. Whoda thunk??

I think shipping your items ahead of time to the resort might be the best way to go. You can stuff a flat rate Priority US Mail box for $8-something.

Infant water is distilled with floride.
Yes I'm sure regular distilled water would be fine, but that is what we were told to use.
My baby was 10 weeks early and is still only 6.5lbs at 3 months old. So, what the docs tell us to do we do it. His imune system is very fragile at the moment, so any little germ could put him back in the hospital. Hopefully we will be able to use tap water at some point, but right now is not an option.

Thanks.

I would just use gardengrocer and have it delivered to your room. My son was breastfed so we didn't have to worry about the formula but we did have diapers, baby food and some snacks for everyone else delivered and it worked out perfectly.

We will be traveling with a 10 month old. I was going to ship my own box with diapers and food, but we decided to order from the garden grocer. I made the decision after checking out their website and finding that they sell yobaby yogurt. We decided to buy some breakfast foods and snacks. It might make the trip smoother by avoiding the breakfast lines. The delivery fee is $12.00, plus an optional tip. Have fun!

Talk to your drs. about water. My dr. gave our healthy baby the water OK at 6 months--tap, bottled, etc. I'm still using Nursery Water but figure after Disney, I may stop. I would avoid Dasani, they add sodium (so you get more thirsty...).

And forget sterile, you just make do. We did a hotel stay in March at 3 months. I took a small amount of dishsoap (in an old travel size shampoo bottle I cleaned). We had two sinks. I washed in warm, soapy in one sink and rinsed cool in the other. Another idea....disposable bottles. We use Avent bottles. I took enough nipples for one day (and probably one extra) and plenty of liners. I think I took one regular bottle. I marked one ziploc as Clean the other as Dirty on masking tape. When we had a chance, we would do a change over and get the water poured for the next bottle. We did buy nursery water then and carried a workout-type bottle with us that had ounce measurements on them. We would take a day's worth of water (we were in and near NYC). Then just added formula when it was time. I plan on doing the same when we go in Aug (then almost 8 months). We are renting a car so we will be making a grocery store/Target run. And I may just use regular bottles of water.

Garden Grocer doesn't seem to carry our formula....the basic Similac milk-based for 0-12 months. At least not on their website. Go figure.

LoveKermit,
Thanks for your advice. I didn't know the Dasani added sodium. I'll remember this for our baby and us in the future.
Next trip to the doc I will ask about the water issue. We hope that in 5 months he will be much bigger and healthier, ready for the World. We planned on waiting until next summer to take him for the first time, but now that he's here we can't wait.
We'll be staying at AKV in a 1 bed room with kitchen. So, I hope that will make it easier to keep his bottles clean. I know they wont be steril, but we'll do the best we can. Just about the only nipple he'll take is the Similac medium flow they used at the NICU. We bought a case of disposible ones. That will make it easy for me to just toss after every feeding. But.... I know a lot may happen between now and then. He might be using different nipples, deffinitly bigger bottles.
Thanks again for your advice, it helped put my mind at ease.

I bought my water at the resort for our DD, we just bought Vitamin/mineral suplement drops to add to the water. If your using formula though you wont need to do this becasue all the Vitamin and Mineral Supplements are already in the formula. any who, we bought 2 gallon jugs of water and left them out at room temp and just filled bottles that we knew wed need during the day. It worked out well for us! HTH!!

Since variations in water can have gastro related affects for baby I would ship down a package to myself of whatever is being used at home.

Also, don't forget that
1). many items are kept behind the counter so don't be afraid to ask if you don't see something
2). the Baby Care Centers in each park & great... take advantage of them (oh, and they also stock many baby items if you need something while in the park)
