You know who I'm talking about. People who walk down the parking lane at the shopping center, directly in front of your car, ever so slowly. It's as if they dare you to say anything about it. You know, that they know, you are behind them - they make it very obvious that they can see you and are laughing about it.

Makes you have to take a deep breath and a long sigh.

Am I the only one who has this happen to them?

Yes! Oh my gosh yes, I am always complaining about this. DS tells me to honk, but I can never bring myself to do it. Soon, though. I am close.

What's worse are the people walking at a snail's pace who then turn and glare at you as if your sitting there waiting for their slow butts to move is a personal affront against them.

Just wait, within 5 posts someone is going to say that you should be patient because all of those people might have hidden disabilities. :lmao:

I just honk. I have a Suburban and it does NOT have an "excuse me please" type of horn. The exception being for old people or mother's with their hands full who are attempting to get to the side of the path.

It seems to happen a lot, almost like they are daring you.
Someone did a study a few years back, on mall parking, they asked people if you know someone is waiting to pull into your spot, do you move your car right out or take your time, most people said if someone is waiting, they take their time. :headache:

Pedestrians do have the right of way ...... BUT.... when it is obviously someone being a PITA it does tend to frustrate me a bit.

It is just plain rude of people to do that and just another sign of our lack of caring and respect for other people. It is really sad--ESPECIALLY when you see young people doing that. There is a street near us and all summer long there was one kid that would ride his bike right down the center of the road. There were times...:car: :faint:

I want to honk when I stop in a parking lot to wave someone across, but they don't even have the courtesy to acknowledge me with a nod or wave, and then cross at a snail's pace.

See, THAT'S what I hate about my new SUV. The horn is so wimpy! My last car was little, but it's horn made people swerve the heck out of my way!

And OP, YES, it's annoying, more so if I'm in a hurry, and I'm usually saying something like, "hey, take your time!" if they look at me.

Some of them might have hidden disabilities.... Oh wait. That was bad.

Yes, that irritates me to no end, GET OVER.

Yes, it drives me and my dh crazy! It's not so much the people who are crossing to get to a store that bug us, but the ones that walk down the middle of the parking lot lanes.

been to pecanland mall recently have we penny?

i swear the pedestrians there are getting worse.

altho.. last week i saw a guy walking across hte garrett road overpass.. in the center of the road. anddhe was giving out dirty looks to drivers as well.

I was just thinking about this issue as I drove Ds5 to preschool. I have to drive through a college campus, it is the only way to get there. Now I am fine with the fact that I have to yield to the peds in the crosswalk, but could you move just a little faster. My goodness I am 38 and I can walk faster than some of these 20 year olds. Then I love the ones who do not cross at the light but they cross diagonally and hold up traffic. And then the one I was tempted to to get a little too close to with my horn was the dude who was jaywalking (not anywhere near the crosswalk) while he was texting, not looking bc "hey no one is gonna hit me" attitude, never once looking up to see if it was safe to cross, just walked right out into the street!:headache:

...I was admonished NOT to walk in the center of the traffic lane, but, rather to walk close to the parked cars. This allows the cars in the traffic lane to continue on.

Now, I'm admonishing my kids NOT to walk in the center of the traffic lane................

If they lived in Naples, they would be getting out of the way.

There was some kid riding his bike down the street right in front of my car. He was in the middle of the street, just riding his bike real slowly down the center of the road. :confused3 I would say he was 13 or 14. I inched my car up right behind me and gave a real long honk. He was so startled he almost fell off his bike. :lmao:

Okay, I'm mean...but it was funny.

That doesn't bother me nearly as much as the pack of middle schoolers that insist on not only walking in the road but pretty much taking up the entire road so that I have a hard time getting by and then laughing at how clever they are. Every day when I pick the kids up this happens and I have opened the window and asked them to move a couple of times which usually gets me flipped off or they stare at me and continue to walk in the road. I usually leave a few minutes later or earlier just to avoid this but I have told my kids a bunch of times if I caught them walking in the road like that it would only happen once! I always hurry to get out of the way of a car but not these kids. They actually enjoy the aggravation they cause and purposely walk down the center of the road and dare you get get by.
