Do people still wear pin lanyards?

I haven't been to WDW in about five years, but when I went I would wear the lanyard with all of the different pins I bought. I do collect the pins. Do people still do that? Will I stand out if I do wear one?

My kids used to wear the lanyards. They took them with us on our last trip in May and wore them for about a 1/2 day when they realized they were definitely in the minority of wearing them and there were very few folks to trade with. I think for them they will just become a keepsake to add to a collection and not purchased for trading any more.

Oh yeah! I rock mine about every other time we head over to the parks. Also it depends on what are trip is for. Rides or other stuff. Usually don't wear any of mine if we are going strictly for rides. If it's just a visit to do whatever, always rocking one of mine.

I have a lot from the 90's and early 2000's so they always draw some looks from CM's and other guests as well. But yeah, people are still wearing them.

Here's the lanyard I am currently wearing out to the parks.

My kids wear theirs and I occasionally do (they bug my neck when I'm getting all hot & sweaty). We've only ever traded with CMs or bought new pins to add to it. I've never happened to approach another guest or have one approach me to trade, though I'd enjoy it if they did!

Yes, I've been seeing them more and more now that summer vacationers are in town.

Cast members usually have the small pin book so ask when you want to trade.

I always wear mine! (I take it off though for rides). We enjoy trading with CMs at shops and pin boards - haven't ever traded with other guests. Even if we were in the minority I wouldn't care - I love my pins!

When I went in September, my husband my sister in law and myself all had a lanyard. We would either wear it or if started to bother us then we stick it in our bags. But there were plenty of cms to trade with.

Edited to add: if I'm remembering correctly then you can ask the shops if they have a pin book. It seemed like quite a few did. And the resorts will have a pin trading board at certain times of the day.

My DD, then 5, wore a lanyard on our last trip, but DH ended up wearing it a lot because she said it was heavy. They both got a kick out of collecting and trading them. It makes for a great souvenir. They will be wearing it/trading on our next trip, too. DH wore some pins on his hat, but didn't trade those.

@DrivenByDisney those are some really nice pins!

My kids always take theirs and trade with the cast members. When we were there last fall, there was an area outside one of the pin stores at Epcot that had tables set up specifically for collectors looking to trade.

I wear mine, I have learned not to wear too many at once so it does not get too heavy, but I still love pins. I had noticed with the magic bands less people were wearing them, but I enjoy collecting and have enjoyed trading and talking pins with fellow guests/casts. I hope others keep wearing their lanyards!

We loved pin trading! Me, DH and DS 11 mostly traded with CMs and from boards at different stores. Lots of fun!

ETA: we got a lot of good ones (in our opinions) from the front desks at the resorts we stayed at and visited that had pin boards. Everyone was very friendly about us asking we just waited u till they weren't busy helping other guests.

I still wear mine but the kids find them too heavy so theirs are usually in my purse.

But even if you were the only one in the whole park wearing one, I wouldn't judge you. I am too busy with my own vacation to worry about anything anyone else is wearing. Wear it and have fun.

Last month we saw the pin stations and a few of the shops were carrying a new kind of lanyard. It's about twice as wide as the traditional lanyard with a smooth ribbon like texture.
