Do People Really.......???

Do people really...Use a Disney discussion forum to argue back and forth? I was just amusing myself originally but this is just lame. I don't care who started arguing and I don't care who is "at fault", or even who is winning. :headache: Can you just please stop!

At POP? Now that is very unusual. I've seen people get "time out" after not listening the lifeguard, but even then, they didn't ask for their room key. So you think they watched them come out of their room, counted the people and followed them to the pool, instead of just talking to them outside their room? That's wierd, that they would wait until they got to the pool.

We had 10 people come out of the room next to us, but it appears they actuall had a few rooms, and the kids wanted to be together. I wonder what security would have done if they saw that.

Honestly I don't know what made CM's approach them. It wasn't a life gaurd...but a fully dressed CM. My guess would be that someone either reported them or that they had brought alot of attention to themselves some where or some how.

I couldn't sleep last night (surprise surprise) and found myself reading the Disboards (surprise surprise) and more specifically this thread. Well, I'll have you know that at midnight I actually popped popcorn. :teeth: Sorry, I couldn't pass it around, but you should thank me because I'm probably going to get cavities. :( Who should I be blaming and who should I send the dentist bill to? :guilty:

Nevermind, I guess I'll suck it up and accept some personal responsibility for my bad judgment leading to the decline of my oral hygiene. :goodvibes

Hi ho, hi ho, back to work I go!

Hi. :wave2:

Mr. Footlong Hotdog called. He's very hurt. The betrayal.

Hope you're happy.

You made a processed meat food product cry.

I think I may be able to help with the diaper thing. We use cloth diapers for my daughter, and are planning on using cloth for the second baby as well. While I'd never tie them to the stroller, you wouldn't throw them away, but I keep a couple of grocery bags in the diaper bag to keep them in once their used. Now if people are actually tying used disposables or cloth diapers to the outside of their strollers, that is dis - gusting. :p Can you imagine the smell they'd have trailing them everywhere? Especially in the hot Fla./Cali. sun? Gag.
We usually put the diapers in a diaper sack or grocery bag and tie that to the stroller. We just make sure fake dirty diaper is visable so no one steals our stroller with our belongings in it. I really don't see the big deal on this one. :confused3 I would use a real poop diaper if it meant no one would take my stroller, ina bag of course. :lmao:

Lol...you think this is bad? You should try visiting some of the Yorkshire Terrier forums! I've seen some of those arguments turn in to actual, honest law suits for slander! Honest! :sad2:

I keep picking up an undertone in this thread that bothers me a bit. It's the whole "If you can't afford to do everything without thinking about it, just stay home."

I have been working points programs, rolling change, and trying to stash whatever money I can for 6 years to get my children to Disney. There have been numerous set backs in this - car breaks down, new water heater, that kind of thing. But I will never give up. This is my dream.

I'm thinking at this point we'll be able to go in about 2 years, when kids are 12, 10 and 8. And we will not be able to just do whatever without thinking. We'll be doing this on a budget. Now I will never use the fixings bar to make a "free" salad. That's not what it's for. But I won't hesitate to buy 3 meals for 5 of us and split it. Once I buy the meals, they're MINE and how we use them is up to us, right?

But I really get hurt by the idea that if we have to do this on the cheap we're somehow less "Mouse-worthy" or something. Should we maybe be using this money for something else? Maybe. But I know my children won't be children for very long, and I will split meals, pal mickey swap, buy souvies at Walmart, or whatever it takes to share this dream with them, as long as it's within the rules. (so no, no extra people snuck in the room or mug swapping)

I totally agree with you. I am a single mom of a diabetic daughter. Her dad does not and has not paid a penny of child support since we seperated 3 years ago. He does not have insurance on her either so a lot of her medical expenses come straight from my pocket. I have a good business that has always supported me well but with so many other bills and " what ifs" lurking back home I dont mind cutting corners and saving what I can to go to Disney. They main idea is " we are in Disney!" to us. My daughter will only be 7 once and I want to experience WDW with her and have beautiful memories and these are not created because we wasted food or were able to buy whatever souveniers we bought.
I have been lucky to visit 2 times in 2 years because we were careful.
I would do the bun thing.. you are not scamming anyone out of anything. The double burger meal costs a bit more than the regular burger meal and they charge you for the extra bun. We share desserts all of the time because DD is diabetic and could never eat a whole one. The plus side to this is that I have lost weight eating this way as well.
Before I got divorced we would go to Disney and it was a " money no object" vacation each time. We had fun true.. but I had just as much fun last year with my daughter.. if not more.

it was probably getting out of the car that had the GF ticket in the window that did it :rotfl2:

seriously, if pool hopping wasn't a bad bad bad thing to do I'd do it( i am smacking my own hand, so nobody else has to chastise me for even thinking of this)...i think the kiddie pools at the values are way cuter than the others so I'd take gbaby and let her play there IF it wasn't so bad ( i have stayed at POP but this time we won't be)

plus i probably have 100s of "pool usage' $$$ banked due to lack of pool use ( a cm told me that once long long ago in a universe far far away) having never using them once in 8 trips) so any ecomonic distress i would cause to the other value guests would not apply in this case

to any who feel bad about the "stay home you guttersnips who can't afford lobster everyday for lunch and dinner" sentiments.. :stir:
if you want to see snobbery in action sometimes read the resort thread ( by no means everyone) but a few sure give off the "i'm so much better than the riffraffsince i only stay at .........deluxe/dvc" vibe:rolleyes: hello it's a vacation hotel, not like they found a cure for world hunger   guess they gotta find something to validate themselves and boost their egos even if it is only staying at someplace expensive ( and paying and paying and paying :lmao: to each his own :lmao: )

I would be really interested to know just how much the income span is between those that choose Value vs. Deluxe resorts. I'm guessing not that much. Yes there are certainly the affluent that stay at deluxes, and those that saved pennies to manage a value, but I bet the majority of the guests at all 3 level resorts are middle class and made a PERSONAL DECISION as to which level meets their needs. Its just like at home: your coworker (who you know has the exact same salary as you) drives a limited edition 2006 SUV while you are driving a 10 year old rusted minivan. Its a CHOICE. Although I am firmly entrenched in the middle class and I will be staying at POP and could never rationalize anything else. Some people are financially comfortable yet frugal. Others choose brand names and deluxe hotels over a fat 401K.

I am one of the affluent class (we pay more in income tax than most upper middle class families make.)

My choice,my favorite resort, is All Star Music.
I love the theming ,the peacefullness, and relaxing by the pool.
Most of all I love the fact that it is such a great value. Renting 2 rooms is often about the same price as 1 room at a mod . The mod is only 54 square feet bigger.
54 square feet is not much. If both the value and the mod are 27 feet long that means the mod will be 2 feet wider. 2 extra feet between the foot of your bed and the TV is not much difference to me.

Disney's value resorts are a total bargain. You get so many perks (Disney themeing, Disney transportation, and EMH)
Any of Disney's resort guests (even those staying at a value or mod) are allowed to shop, dine, use the transportation or spa facilities at any of the Disney Resorts. (Of course pool hopping is not allowed.)

Disney does charge a premium price for their Deluxe resorts.
Deluxe guests are paying for location and amenities not for stellar customer service.
Many guests are disappointed because they think the GF is a 5 star hotel.
They expect the service of a 5 star and are disappointed when their expectations are not met.
It is in no way near a 5 star hotel even though it costs as much as many 5 star hotels.
The GF is rated 4 diamonds by AAA but most sites rate it as 3 and a half.
The Poly and CR are usually considered 3 star hotels.

So please do not let the "I am a DELUXE kinda girl" attitute get to you.

Choose a resort whose theme appeals to your family and a price you feel confortable with.

And most of all have fun at Disney! :wizard:

Well, I just have to say one thing: this thread made me want a cheeseburger so badly, that I just went to Wendy's to have one. However, it wasn't a double! :rotfl2:

Gee, we are super trashy and un-Disney worthy -- we stay off-site and share meals! Oh, and we use our own car to travel from our off-site condo to each park. I wonder if my children will be scarred from traveling in the luxury of our own private vehicle instead of a crowded, smelly Disney bus?

The dirty diaper on a stroller handle is just dumb. I read that years ago in the WDW Unofficial Guide 1994 (or possibly '95). Who hasn't heard of that trick? Who would really fall for that? Why would someone be carrying around a stanky baby diaper when WDW provides garbage cans every 20 feet? Get real!

LOL -- I didn't know it was an old gimmick, but I agree it didn't sound like a particularly effective deterrent. Now, maybe you could smear some fudge or chocolate on the handle along with the diaper --- that might warn some people off. pirate:

The worst image just came to mind.

Someone's kid will touch the handle with chocalate. Of course being kids, will discover it and smell it. Realizes it's chocalate and licks it, all the while the parent is freaking out......... :rotfl2: Sorry I couldn't resist.

Like Bill Murray cleaning the pool and finding the chocolate bar in "Caddyshack".

(This isn't off Disney topic -- Murray's most famous line in that movie is "It's a Cinderella Story") ;)

lol-exactly! :rotfl:

We've often had company, and we just ask at the front desk. I also asked the lifeguards once, because someone on these boards told me they had the final say. He didn't have a clue why I was asking him LOL. They have never turned me down. Begining of May (I'm posting this even though hubby said not to..he just knew it would start an argument) we were at the guest services desk, getting our older hoppers sorted out, and the people next to us asked if their kids could try out the pool. They asked if they were staying on property, and they said yes, at the contemporary, but the pool looked like so much more fun at POP. He said sure, go ahead, and told him where to change. So I think the key is always in the asking.

Oh, I forgot to mention that the only reason I'm even staying at a value is because of the FREE(my favorite word!) DDP. Otherwise I would not have even considered it. DELUXERS BEWARE!!!! From August 13 thru Sep 30 the Value crowd will be particularly unworthy!
