I promise you, it is NOT worth it.
They are refurbishing the space and it' won't be done for a few months.

What they are doing in the meantime is having the character breakfast upstairs in a ballroom. It was awful. I felt like I was at a conference, just having a meal.

They do their Disney best to make it fun and magical but it is anything but. It was really bad. It's amazing how much that great space really MAKES that experience. You take the average food out of a great atmosphere and it really becomes just a ho-hum, blah buffet meal.

Characters were just roaming around, table to table. You can see the entire room well, because it's just a big rectangle. There's no excitement.
The characters that were there yesterday were: Jasmine, Cinderella, Balloo, Chip & Dale, Pluto, Goofy.

It is not worth the money. Go to the character breakfast inside the park instead. It will be much better. Seriously, don't waste your money at Goofy's right now. You'll be super disappointed (plus, it's not cheap!).

I don't think I would've enjoyed Goofy's if it were set-up the way you just described. Thankfully I won't be there until May because my boys LOVE Goofy's Kitchen and it is a must for us durng our trips!

Sorry you had a bad experience there.

I think they must have relocated immediately after I ate there on 12/12. I appreciate that they are at least trying to keep it open. I'm sure I would still go there anyway if that was when I planned to go (and we actually really enjoy the food, so it would be worth it for us), but I'm not sure how much I would like the temporary layout. It sounds like the location has a great deal to do with the overall atmosphere.

I can totally understand this setiment from some pictures I've seen.

Since so few come knowing what it will be like from seeing sites like this. Neverthe less hopefully it gets quiet and the interactions last longer. Or they could knock $5 off the price.

I was going to ask about this! I am disappointed that when I called to make the reservation they did not mention it on Sunday. I think I will change it to a different meal. The picture I saw looked sad.

Ooooh...where is there a photo of the temporary Goofy's set-up? I have not seen it yet.

Does anyone remember the Original Goofy's? Talk about quaintness and atmosphere! You could even be seated outside! I have quite a few pictures of my kids eating there. Oh well, I miss the waterfalls too.

I most certainly remember the original Goofy's. That was back when the breakfast buffet was a whopping $11 or some such thing!!:rotfl2: Ahhh...the good old days. I liked that location because the characters would wear Christmasy stuff for the holidays - they don't do that at the current Goofy's location. Goofy would dress up in full Santa gear back in the '90s, and he stopped when they switched to the new place.

And I loved the waterfalls and koi fish too - I'm sad that those have been removed from the DLH.

Thank you for the link with the photo, jemilah! Yeah, I'm not crazy about that location, either. It's too....large. It looks too spacious and not the sort of curvy, twisty, wacky layout of the current Goofy's. Also, it's too bright. Goofy's is normally not all that bright. It does look very conference/banquet-ish. Yep, it's all about location location location!

Doesn't look that bad we will still be going..and hey if a bunch of people cancel we will get more character time.

Well, as long as they have the same wide variety of food and multiple characters, it should be okay. But I can see how the restaurant's usual design and color definitely enhance the atmosphere.

Thank you, again, jemilah, for posting the link!

your welcome, I sent it to my boys and they both dont want to go anymore, mind you these are teenagers who asked if we could go! Oh well next trip , we will make at least 3 this next year...I hope!

Oh I am so glad I read this! I was going to call for reservations for next week when shockingly my husband and I have a day off and we were going to surprise our son w/breakfast there and then renew our passes. I don't want his first experience to be in a ballroom! That ruins the idea for me. Even though he's 3 and he probably won't care as long as the characters come by - my husband might pout :) Thank you for posting. I'll just wait until next year and take him to IHOP as he'd probably love chocolate chip pancakes and then heading in to ride the train. Thanks!!!

I truly wish we had left once we saw what it was. We should have kindly asked for a refund and left. But, ah well. We made the best of it. We didn't have kids with us so it was much more optional for us.

The character interaction was not all that great. The vibe and feel of the place was just *off* and I can't exactly explain it. Just not as fun or magical.

I also don't really like the character breakfast at Storytellers so that may help calibrate. I like the 1900 inside the park and Goofy's. Ariels was fantastic when my daughter was little. Great princess interaction and atmosphere.

Just wanted to give a little heads up to save your $$$ if you can. I really think it would be disappointing to end up in a banquet hall atmosphere. No music, no Macarena, no characters dancing around with kids. Just......zzzzzz.

I will cancel tomorrow , sounds like a wedding with weird food

Thank you so much for the advice. We were about to book our breakfast at GK just because our DD loved the low counters and the fact that she could choose her food and serve herself. We'll wait until the renovation is done because it doesn't seem to be special at all in that Ball Room

I really liked GK in the old format, not the new one shown in the photo, glad I have missed it.

Jack
