Do not book 5024/5524 on the Dream/Fantasy!

The verandah has about a 35-40% obstruction coming from the left toward the center and is partially enclosed due to it.

Gotcha. For a minute I thought we were booked in the room. We are in a different room.

This reminds me of a problem I had with a pair of ECCO walking shoes. The sole simply crumbled apart the second time I wore them.

Before contacting the company, I did a Google search, and learned that ECCO acknowledged problems with the sole of this particular style, and replaced many, many pairs of this style shoe.

When I called ECCO's customer service, the representative acted like this was the first time they ever heard of the problem. I was tempted to ask her, "Which acting school did you attend?"

I have also done the same when contacting the company about a particular problem. While the company may have dealt with the similiar problem the agent you talk to may not have encounted it before. So always go in armed with info to inform the c/s rep. that the company has encountered the problem in the past and then they usually pass you along to someone else that can help you or just ask to be passed 'up the chain'.

The 2 things that comes to mind with any situation like this, is that the cm in reservations, prob wont know what is or isnt onboard, or what a guest would consider wrong.Anyting we would put on a survey form, would go to a different group of people. I had a conversation with a cm in reservations, and she tried to tell me everything is going great with the Dream. When I told her that there was a thread with about 10 pages, and about 8 of them were complaints that the pools were too small, and that I noticed the ship was smaller in the middle, looking at her from the ends, she tried to tell me that a, no one had complained about the size of the pools, and that no the ship wasnt smaller in the middle looking at her from the ends. Then she admitted she had never seen a picture of the ship, let alone the been on any of them. I would think that it would be the same with any large corporation, where the people that answer the general phones, wouldnt know what to expect or even say. So to them, it may be the first time they heard of it. (Not that I am defending them just saying.)Even if they do pass it on, itll go to someone that knows exactly how many people are upset with a situation.

So, if I were the op, Id send an email to guest communications, and put the presidents name in the subject line, then follow it up with snail mail to Celebration. JIC.

We've been trying to warn folks away from these rooms since we first saw the Dream float out at the end of October (see post 1 of the specail rooms thread in my siggie.) Sorry you ended up in one of those rooms, but please write and complain as loudly as possible.

We could tell those rooms had two major drawback compared to other rooms in that category, mainly the heavy metal obstructions, and the lack of the extended verandah that the other 5E rooms have. There is another post on these rooms with pictures from one of the January sailings that highlighted a 3rd issue, the lack of privacy given that the extended verandah next to you gives your neighbor a good view into your room and verandah.

We are back. The veranda is definitely an issue and DCL doesn't seem to care. After getting into our room and looking at the situation we went right to guest services. The girl there pulled out the deck plan and said the rooms are the same. We told her they are not as depicted on the deck plan. She was very confused but took the information and said she'd have someone contact us. When we received a call from guest services they told us the ship was full so there was nothing they could do. We had a 5e which is what we booked. Too bad for us. Later the next day we were sitting in Cabana's when a head waiter walked by and asked us how our cruise was going. DH was mad about the response we'd received so he told the head waiter about the situation. This was the 1st person who seemed concerned about the situation. He went over and made a phone call and told us someone would be in contact.

Later the same guest services person called again and she came down to the room. When she saw the veranda she agreed this was a problem and would try to help us but there wasn't much she could do. Our stateroom host also told us that most people are unhappy with the room and encouraged us to complain.

Now that we are home DH tried calling DCL again. He talked to a manager "Roy" and he told us to send another email. We did that this morning and attached pictures. The response we received was the same, they are sorry we were disappointed in the room but it's a 5e and we had a veranda.

I'm so angry now it's all I can do to not call and cancel our back to back we have scheduled for next summer. I will reply back and tell her that I'm very angry with the response we are receiving and have included the fact that there are veranda rooms on Magic & Wonder that are categorized as inside or oceanview rooms due to veranda issues.

What really makes me mad is that we talked to the CM who works the onboard booking desk. She was well aware of the issues with 5024/5524 and told us that they have blocked these rooms and will only book them if nothing else is available.

Can you post pictures? I'm having a hard time visualizing what you are describing.

Hi everyone! I'm a little concerned now. We have a cat 05E room 5156. Would anyone know if this verandah also has a
Partially obstructed view? How can I find out?

Oh my... That is not a small obstruction, that is almost a half obstruction. The person sitting on the right could never see out if sitting. Was this one of the ones that someone listed as "I think I found secret verandah rooms on the Dream" when we had those threads going before the first sailing... I bet you it was.... They should for sure downgrade the catergory.

Eventually enough people will complain, maybe even someone suing, and these will be downgrading like the secret porthole rooms. When that happens, I am going to link these threads so people can appreciate those that got screwed over by DCL to eventually get these rooms downgraded. I am sure way back when there were people screwed by the secret porthole roosm too.

I would expect within the next year these will be categorized at porthole / secret veranda rooms.

Sorry this happened to you guys, just another reason I am super cautious to book a GTY!

well ypu will be happy to know cabin 5024 is now cat 7a.. i found out by luck checkng on my reservation that i had booked well over a year..assigned that room as a cat 5e as i wanted veranda non obsturcted view. no issues according to deck plan...so, now i am stuck with this cabin, disney cannot help as ship is full but they gave me a refund of $200. wish i saw this thread earlier..very poor customer service and disney not doing the right thing..when they knew there were issues, they should have been addressed at that time and people should have been made aware..but they get your final payment, then tell you "by the way, you have no privacy and half a balcony for 5k" extremely disappointed.
