Do NOT Be Fooled

Pecos Bill is not there - El Pirata is in the Pecos Bills building right now.

What is going on? If PB is being refurbished, then why is El Pirata in the PB area? None of this makes sense to me. I too have never eaten at El Pirata and so wanted to. I checked allears the other day and saw that the menu had changed. I was VERY disapointed:sad2: I agree that it is a myth that El Pirata even exists:lmao:

Well, technically they ARE the same building. You can walk through the back of Pecos Bill and end up in Pirate and Perico.

That must be what people are refering too because it would make NO sense to move Pirate and Perico to Pecos Bill only to serve the same food. Especially if it's closed for refurb. :confused3

Thanks to all for the replies. IMHO, they shouldnt even call it El Pirata since the food no longer goes with that name. Yes, it shares the building with Pecos Bill which is undergoing rehab so really, what restaurant is it?? I have a few choice names which cannot be printed here. ;)
I don't usually covet tacos, but sometimes a quick decent meal is needed. El Pirata was the answer (if/when it was actually open).

Lesson learned: check the Deb Wills site for menus before dragging your tired self all the way across the Magic Kingdom for a taco, coveted or otherwise. :tiptoe:

I still think El Pirata is a myth. In 10 trips I've never seen it operating. ;)

:lmao: :lmao:

They should change "Open Seasonally" to "Open Randomly" :rotfl:

We have been very lucky with the tacos. In June 07 we had lunch there and when a friend of ours (who has never been as lucky) heard where we had just eaten, she headed over there with us, but they had already closed for the day. It was like 3pm! ..Craziness... pirate:

And so now they're open, but with another restaurant's food. Calling themselves El Pirata, but in fact they are Pecos Bill's.... Wow that'll really add some mystery to the legend of El Pirata....anyway, I get that Pecos Bill is closed, but why is their food being served at El Pirata? :confused3 I suspect a taco conspiracy. :rolleyes1 (FYI - for those of you who haven't eaten there..the tacos are about as big as my head -atleast that's how I remember them.)

LOL, too true! We did eat there JUST ONCE many years ago...it's almost like a quest, and a joke for us at this point.

I've only eaten there once, and it was really good, but it is NEVER open!

I agree with you--I've never seen it operating either. Reminds me of the Noodle Station in Tomorrowland--never seen that operating either. :confused3

you're right...we always walk thru the EMPTY Noodle station because it is NEVER open! we use those bathrooms there though....

The trick is to go during free dining, I think. The place will be a zoo and you'll regret even thinking about eating there, but it'll be open. At least that was our experience there! :headache: Come to think of it, El Pirata might be able to take sole credit for my love affair with the deluxe dining plan and its total lack of counter service meals! :rotfl:

No! I've never found it open during free dining! (for 4 years!) You have??!!! that's great! I've missed it since we went in spring 2004 during Easter week. Boo!:upsidedow

Haha! The trick is, you have to go in the summer or a busy time. We ate there last summer and the summer before that. DeLISH!

I HAVE!!! I've done at least 5 summer trips, a Christmas week trip (for goodness sakes, you would think it would be open then!), and a few off season trips. I think they see that I'm coming to the parks and they close it. I don't even care what the food tastes like, I just want to eat there!!! :rotfl:

El Pirata is one of our favs at MK. Quick, easy, cheap and pretty good. It has always been open whenever we're there (we usually go the week after Labor Day) and eat lunch. Nothing fancy or fabulous but a good value for what you get. I certainly hope it reverts to its regular menu after PB is back up and running.:)

It was open during our '05 free dining trip. Never again. Seriously. All the CS we did was crazy-crowded, but that was the worst!

Worst CS meal we have ever had in Disney! Cool, greasy, salty noodles with cool meat and soggy, super salty veggies.

Had heartburn before I even finished and it lasted all night.

DON'T DO IT!!!

Pecos Bill's was up again on Saturday and El Pirata y el Perico was open as well...serving tacos. But they did close around 3pm.
