Do Newspapers/Tabloids Have The Right

Thank you.

And to the OP, I just wanted to say that my comments weren't directed at you and hope they didn't come across as critical of you.

I am not necessaraly for outing unless... the person being outed is notorious for saying anti-gay stuff. i think that , let's say , any emembers of congress to voted to amend the american constitution against same-sex marriage , this person should be outed if they happen to be gay. or, like one of the chief of an ex-gay movement who has been spotted in a gay bar , he should be outed. But a person who's worst crime is singning bad pop songs , while it makes for fun gossip , should not be outed .

I must say, Well Done! That has to be the one of the best posts I've read in a while, that simply gets to the heart of the matter, IMO. I could care less who is gay or not and I really do find it offensive when people are outed in a public way. It has to be embarrassing to wake up and see your private life and who you have sex with in a newspaper. I'm a firm believer that what goes on between two consenting adults in private, should stay private. I hope that Lance Bass can sue the crap out of whoever printed that garbage, if he chooses to do so.

I also don't care for when a celebrity chooses to tell the public what goes on in his bedroom and I don't get "lets make a sex video and then cry when it goes public" game. Any major celebrity who doesn't understand that it's not a good idea to have those sex tapes made, isn't too bright, IMO. Those tapes always seem to end up on the internet and I wonder if isn't planned at times?

I kind of agreebut at the same time , we tend to not think about the sex when Jennifer Aniston talks about Vince Vaughn , but as soon as we talk about a gay person , we only think about the sex ( re: what goes on in the bedroom). Everybodies relashionship does not start and end in the bedroom , gay or straight or lesbian. One day will come when being gay is not only seen by the majority as "what goes on in the bedroom". If I say I am gay ( and I am) I am nor inviting people to peek into what goes on in my bedroom , but I am just stating that the person that shares my life is the same sex that i am . But a lot of people see only the sex, not the loved one !

Oh my goodness, I was thinking "Lance Bass is gay?! Didn't he just break up with Sheryl Crowe? That poor woman..."

Ooops, wrong Lance! :rotfl:

Lance Bass, who cares...Lance Armstrong...now that would be news!

I see what you're trying to say but I make that rule across the board for everyone. Doesn't matter to me what people are, straight, gay, bi, etc. I'm a private person and I don't discuss any personal details in public about my life and would love if celebrities would follow that rule as well. I feel the same way about excessive PDA as well. I don't want to know what Jennifer Aniston does in real life and the same goes for Rosie O'Donnell.

To me, someone's sexuality is about as personal as you can get and to have that splashed across a front page of a newspaper, is beyond horrible. I'm glad you're comfortable with who you are and in love. Good for you and God bless! If I lived next door to you though, I would have no reason to know that you're gay and wouldn't want to either. It doesn't affect me and my life is busy enough. I believe in respecting other peoples rights as much as I can and in most cases, I try to follow the motto of: live and let live.

It does affect your life, since you dont want to see it, hear it , or be concious that the couple next door is the same sex. And you would not have a choice to know , because, next month we will celebrate our (legal )wedding in our backyard. But If I say to some people , again , the simple fact that I am getting married , they only see the sex aspect of my relashionship. Would you say to me when i annonce my marriagwe to you : sorry , too much information , I dont want to know what you do in your bedroom? Should I say the same thing to my heterosexual co-worker when she annonces thet she is getting married or pregnant ?

Now Iam getting off topic , but at the same time , not that much I guess.
