Do new members (after April 2016) get discounts

I am pretty sure that no members get discounts on regular hotels. Only 25% off DVC rooms. Of course, many DVC members are also AP holders, which allows them to get AP discounts on rooms, but there is no DVC discount.
Please correct me if I am wrong about this, though.

Thanks, but not sure I understand that answer. Do you mean that thios applies to the 'resale' members (those who bought AFTER April 2016 thru resale)?

I have not heard anything that suggests this is a perk, meaning a retsricted benefit. Like any other discount they do subject it to availability, which is often poor.

Any DVC member can get the 25% off a DVC reservation, but only if they have them available. And many times they don't. There are no DVC discounts on non-DVC lodging.

I only asked because I was looking up a regular hotel room on the regular disney website (thinking about free dining) and I read somewhere where they asked me if I was " a DVC member, or member of the US military" - it got me thinking about whether or not we did indeed qualify for a discount

It does not seem to be a restricted benefit. It is merely one of those that has limited practical use.

It's 25% off a DVC cash booking, unit has to be available, and it has to be discount eligible. I think it has to be done via MS.

Those cash prices are usually CRAZY high, do you know where I can see a list of prices? Is it on the regular Disney website? Thanks a lot for the info!

Yep. They're crazy high. You can check them by looking up each resort in MDE. BLT studios going for only $805 a night for the week of Christmas, if you're interested!

Mousesavers has the rack rates for all the resorts. The 25% would be off rack, when available.

Before joining DVC, I always wanted to stay at Old Key West. Even there, they are asking a minimum of $400 per night without the DVC discount. That price was enough to scare me away. I suppose somebody is paying those prices, though, as they are able to ask that much for those rooms without worrying that they won't get filled.

The US Military question is to determine whether Shades of Green might be an option for you, and to determine whether you qualify for the special military theme park ticket packages. I suspect the DVC member question relates to cash DVC room reservations made through CRO, and annual pass availability.

There is actually a military discount at Disney resorts. It’s about the same as what is offered for DVC or AP discounts but it is subject to availability (like the DVC & AP discounts) which are getting to be fewer and farther in between.
